… and? The interviewer asked about his landmark building. So he starts by talking about it. Never really bragged about it, and the video cuts off abruptly before he changed the topic. Yet you still fall for this propaganda.

I thought that was a little suspect with the cutoff. Let’s be real though, he asked about damage to the building and then he proceeds to brag about going from #2 to #1. It’s a dick move no doubt; a character display instead of saying he’s some sort of anarchistic genius.
My movie brain saw it like this. If Maverick laughed about Cougar losing it and bragged about being #1 in his squadron, we’d have a totally different look at the character.
