American Government Thread 2: RIP John McCain, 81

This is obviously he best timeline.

I swear ever since Trump announced his campaign the entirety of the world has stopped making a lick of sense.

As an appeal to fairness, and to correcting for an opponent’s biases, whataboutism is not a distraction tactic but an important weapon against a different propaganda technique, known as framing. In a point-scoring political debate, the side that succeeds in making its description of the situation stick is often the one that wins.
For example, if the Democrats manage to frame Russia’s ā€œactive measuresā€ as a plot to elect Trump, they have scored an important point. Some ā€œwhataboutismā€ on the Republican side won’t end the investigation into that possibility – but it can help level the playing field.

MUST WATCH!

Not sure what just happened LOL

That must be the most random thing to occur in a hearing.

I quoted AcidicEnema’s statement indicating that no vicious act of violence against the media had occurred. I presumed that AcidicEnema was joking, because everybody is aware that bad shit has gone down on that front. I think he can make his joke without pretending that uninvolved people aren’t getting threatened and hurt.

I’m sure that incident along with Trump’s suggestion that people shoot Hillary are definitely equivalent to some random woman trying to pick a fight at 1AM and supposedly getting beat up for her troubles. I definitely equate the actions of two random people being upset by some rude random with Trump encouraging distrust of and violence against those who dare oppose him.

Here’s a video from the poor innocent victim who definitely isn’t trying to instigate:

Don’t forget that if you’re such a complete asshole that you trigger a librul you win the game. Liberal tears are the only worthwhile commodity these days. God forbid that people not be complete douches.

Which still has fuck all to do with the verbal attacks on the media which have lead to actual physical attacks on the media. That’s the kind of shit Trump encourages. I myself haven’t heard Obama call for violence against Trump supporters, but then again maybe I’m just not woke.

edit: fixed first paragraph

You’re responding to the wrong person numbnuts. You quoted AcidEnema.

True dat. Doesn’t really change the point nor make your comment more meaningful.

Brutal NYT anonymous op-ed today from a ā€œsenior administration officialā€:

Hilariously and sadly, it looks like it could be written by Mike Pence:

Probably not, but it makes this clown show that much more interesting.

That NYT thing is one of the most cowardly attempts to save face I’ve ever seen. ā€œThis administration is horrible and I want no part of it but I don’t want to rock the boat all that much because I still like most of it.ā€

Anonymous essay confirms what we all suspected: Trump surrounded by people that wont let him fuck up.

I guess its safe to say that cabinets work.

The author of the anonymous op-ed is hoping to vindicate the reputation of like-minded senior Trump staffers. See, we only look complicit! Actually, we’re the real heroes of the story.

it’s not important, but it is highly unusual. normally, this should have been one of those ceremonial duties the president or ex-president performs that no one gives a second thought. this is like the presidential pardon of the turkey on thanksgiving devolving into reality tv show levels of fuckkery.

in any case, i would have liked to have seen trump attend the funeral and give a eulogy, but not for any noble reasons. i’ve never seen a president still alive give his own eulogy and i’m pretty sure any eulogy trump would have given would be in honor of trump not mccain.

i don’t see how the rnc could have done anything. the rnc has been coopted by trump like the rest of the party. trump gave romney her job. i don’t see trump turning over a new leaf and start taking advice from the help.

did anyone catch the hilarious conversation woodward recorded of trump copping pleas and insisting no one in the entire white house told him woodward wanted to interview him? kellyanne conway straight up finessed her way out of it. the funny thing it is plausible his staff explicity kept him out of the loop. i wouldn’t be surprised they thought it would be a horrible idea to let trump be interviewed by woodward. they don’t know what might come out of that idiot’s mouth. trump’s lawyers probably thought the idea is the equivalent of allowing mueller to interrogate trump and fit him for a orange jumpsuit while he’s at it.

i guess this means the so-called ā€œdeep stateā€ wasn’t obama, but trump’s people all along? i’m sure QAnon is baking an answer as we speak. anyway, no wonder trump is running around the oval office like he’s suffering from cocaine induced paranoia after that dismemberment and vivisection.

apparently, trump is using his powers of obliviousness to conduct his own investigation to find the culprits.

trump: are you snitching on me?
aide: absolutely not, mr. president.
trump: are you sure?

trump: okay, you passed.

So I’m reading another article that the guy Truendymion posted and I found this quote:

In the immediate circumstance, Mattis’s alleged refusal to obey was almost certainly for the best: Trump was reportedly ordering a massive military strike and a targeted decapitation of a government with no forethought, no strategy, no plan.

That’s literally what Obama did with Gadaffi. Doesn’t this mean that Trump is only keeping up with policies form the last 8 years?

until trump fires them because he believes they said something mean about him.

sure, but it’s been like that from day one. there’s a reality show being played out in the white house. the funny part is watching trump acting all shocked his people are snitching and finessing him. he hired those people and didn’t seem to be all that interested in vetting them either.

I know he’s unusual, but now this is just annoying

Sarah Sanders reminds me of Ice Box from the movie Little Giants

EDIT: Couldn’t resist, had to do this:

Damage control.

Damage control is what they are.

They can’t stop the Autistic Epileptic bull in the China shop, but they can erect barriers to mitigate how many horns 'Murika gets.

An interesting parallel, but not at all…
