American Government Thread 2: RIP John McCain, 81

wtf? No. It’s cuz I have a vague understanding of how things are supposed to work.

Parties have “not controlled congress” before. This has never happened before. The civility and respect in most of politics has largely been thrown out.

You must understand that people get appointed to the court and then oftentimes your previous impression of them is wrong. It’s a weird thing. It’s not that I’m particularly in love with Garland, it’s that a thing happened that had never happened before. That’s what fucks my mind up.

If you’re mad at what I’ve brought up,

Not mad, which seems a cop-out accusation. Just find that your consistent rhetoric that both sides are the same seems unsupported by reality. In which you compare a thing that did not happen to a thing that did happen and somehow come to the conclusion that everything is equal. A comparison so ludicrous I made a dumb comparison that I have such edited out. I don’t feel you can make the comparison you make in good faith.

Hell, considering only two parties have been playing tug of war for the last 100+ years, then acting like either one is holier than the other is ludicrous.

Haha, I know right that’d be like gerrymandering the system so hard that the courts would have to get involved haha that didn’t actually right

That doesn’t happen in Texas right

Tell me more about this list of Republican scandals… the ones that the Republicans have actually put their own list together for, discussing what the Democrats might actually have the power to look into if they weren’t the minority party

Tell me more about this Hillary mastermind that we should look into

Tell me more about trillion dollar tax cuts for the rich

Tell me more about this trickle down economics

the parties are exactly the same

For the lolz…

Faux not even dog whistling anymore.

Isn’t it exhausting projecting racism into everything? Do you ever stop thinking about race?

When people stop injecting a superiority complex with the subject, folks might stop doing that.

While “monkeying up” is a colloquialism for an error in judgement, any seasoned politician worth his salt would have known better. Using the term in reference to a black man’s campaign for government office just seems a bit on the nose.

Also, take a look at this campaign ad for DeSantis

The look on that reporter as soon as he says “monkey this up”.

This is why the 1st amendment is important.

Whaaaat, no. DeSantis is just really cerebral:

And more from DeSantis:

So free speech can be freely reported, slurs and all.

Seems perfect for you comment…

This is a perfect analogy. Seriously this is my one hate of the Democratic party in they want to play by “rules” while the opposition(GOP) wants to gerrymander, lie, mislead, cheat, block, and go by the do ANYTHING to win mentality. Especially as they go to the far right with Trump. The Democrats need to take the house back and play as dirty as they can.

But look if you just ignore all that both parties are exactly the same.

Wtf kind of fair game do you think democrats are playing? Every major TV news outlet is basically in their pocket. Hollywood is so much to the left that saying you’re a conservative is shocking for a celebrity to do. You cant disagree nor criticize a democratic anything without people accusing you of either being a republican or a conservative.

Those cocksuckers have played plenty fucking dirty. The current US two party system has near irreparably broken any chance at sensible political discourse in this country.

The balls in that doofus to tweet that shit.

The only biased major outlet is Faux and its crystal clear… CNN and the rest lean toward decency which is naturally left…

Like when our elected leaders only source to go to is Fox News you know things are bad. He doesn’t quote intelligence or FBI or DOJ he now daily quotes Fox ONLY.

I wish there was a 3rd option but there isn’t and that is reality.

Your either on the Trump titanic knowing it will sink or smart enough to realize its fate and opting for the semi-better option that is at least decent.

The Republican party did a self autopsy and knew it needed to get more minorities to survive and instead of going left they opted to just go full on right to a point where Nazis feel emboldened and march on our streets.

This is where we are at like it or not… #reality

MSNBC was hilariously unwatchable for years. Pretty sure outside of Maddow is still probably is. CNN has Cooper; but Fox has Shepherd so they kind of cancel each other out.

Still doesn’t change the fact that the vast majority of the media in the US leans left. I mean, even this dumb ass comment:

Too many of you are cucked in the heads by both parties. This comment right here exemplifies why things are next level boned.

I am not a religious person (nominally agnostic) , but there is something creepy about the Left’s conviction that they have a monopoly on truth and common decency.

Seems to me that the human need for some form of “religious” conviction is an innately human thing, and the more hard core atheist types deny their need for a religion, the more likely they are to turn their political ideology/world view into a religion itself.

I am right because I am good and truthful (and the gospel of CNN, NYT, WP tell me so)

Really really ironic.

What does that mean?

Oh, you mean like rigging the primary for the nomination? *cough, cough Hillary! And gerrymander is a Rep only thing?

“It is a mark of wisdom, due to the above considerations, to be suspicious of ourselves, especially our predisposition to root for the home tribe. Though there is arguably an objective human dignity that attaches to each person, it is also the case (or there is at least good reason to think) that we are animals with a faulty nature — a nature that is not always ordered to truth.”

It is his fursona

So many shoes have fallen and bombs dropped

Trump will continue to be clown shoes

But if the other side isn’t playing by the rules, it isn’t a game then, either.

Far better to call the Pugs cheaters, than to cede complete and total systemic failure.
