American Football 2019 Thread:

Speaking of the Panthers…

So did Wentz…He did 5 more plays right after that shot…No one reacted to the so called dirty hit. You didn’t see any teammates get into the face of Clowny…Nothing…The announcers didn’t talk about and was even surprise about Wentz coming out.

If it was Lamar or Cam, everyone would be saying that’s what he gets for running…If a whiteboy QB like Wentz or Erin or Brady or Breeze they have to makeup another rule for them.

Funny you bring up racism when it comes to how QBs get calls.

Let’s talk Roughing the Passer, the main source of people believing that Black QBs don’t get the calls that Superstar White QBs get.

Wentz/Brees/Brady/Rodgers combined had 11 RTPs called in their favor this season. You know, the highest profile White QBs. The two highest profile Black QBs, Lamar Jackson and your boy Russ? 13. Brady actually had zero RTPs the entire year (as did Rivers as well randomly enough, 16 Road Games represent).

There is a bias, but the bias is against Cam Newton specifically as you have referees going out of their way to say he isn’t getting certain calls which in of itself is complete and utter bullshit to do to the guy. But Lamar has been protected and Russ…well his O-Line is so awful by law of averages he pretty much has to get the calls sometimes.

I’d love to do some research on Personal Foul calls for the QBs who actually run past the Line of Scrimmage but I’ve struggled to find a good database for those calls.

Jesus guys lets just ready for this solid slate of games this weekend and be happy that the Pats nor the Cowboys are playing… Bunch of kill joys…

I’m fucking stoked, man. Even if the Vikings lose in San Fran (which I won’t be surprised in the least if it happens), we took the Saints out. Like I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been watching the Vikings for a long time, and it feels good to knock Sean Payton out of the playoffs again even 10 years after Bountygate.

If the Niners win, I’ll be pulling for them against the Packers or Seahawks in the NFC Championship.

Hard to be stoked when really the AFC Title game between the Ravens and Chiefs will be the real Super Bowl. Wake me up when it’s the following week.

Not going to lie, Russ has gotten calls this year & little bit last year…When i thought it was an iffy roughing passer call but ill take it. They miss way more, i mean that Stealers where he gets hit right in the freaken head in front of the ref, no call. Brady/Brees this year combine less than Wilson w/ 48sack. Wilson lead the league in QB hits too.

If you look at the years Brady has been sack 500 times in 20yrs. Breeze 407 times in 19 yrs. Erin 448 times 15years…Meanwhile Wilson has been sacked 348 times already in just 8 years. You combine that with getting hit the most he’s going to get the opportunity to get more roughing passer call. This year is a little different but Brees has lead the league Roughing Passer call a couple time in the past decade. Brady has gotten some too. For QB’s that hardly get hit, that is saying something.
2015 top 3 roughing passer leaders were Brady, Brees, & Errin
2016 top 3 Brees, Cousins, Flacco, Errin was #5 & Bradey #7.

You cant really compare those w/ Wilson & Lamar. Lamar has amazing o-line and he’s looking to run, so you’re not going to get the roughing the passer call on him.

As for penalty after line scrimmage i cant seem to find anything great about that…it would be interesting stat to look at. I think that’s where i see a lot of cheap shots Wilson tends to get even though he likes to safely slide. There a couple notable ones this year where two defenders hit Wilson when he was already down including the helmet and no call.

I’d be interested to see how many rushing yards Wilson has compared to Brees, Brady, and Rogers.

Wilson has 3339yrds in only 8 seasons. Compared to

Brees - 754yrd
Brady - 1037yrd
Erin - 3122yrd

Wilson sort stop running the ball when he got injured 2016. People kept calling him a game manager & running qb.

Now he is the only player to ever having a winning record in his first 8seasons. That’s NFL history.
Since he became a passing QB, Wilson has had the most TD’s in the NFL since 2015 w/ 155tds. That’s with one of the worst offensive lines throughout his career and no Lynch & Legion of Boom.

Brees - 151tds
Tom Brady - 149tds
Matt Ryan - 140tds
Erin Rodgers - 138tds
BenRaperburger - 112tds

Not bad for short , not black enough game manager. Im glad he is finally getting recognize as one of the top qb this year. He slow down a bit near the end & Lamar leap frog everyone. Unless Lamar has a historical bad game against the Titans, he looks to be getting the MVP.

I’m not doubting Wilson’s ability at all. That dude can ball, for sure. I was just wondering if there is a correlation to the hits he takes and the amount he runs with the ball is all.

Edit: Love that you call Rodgers Erin

My interest in the playoffs disintegrated the moment Thielen caught that game winning TD. The remaining teams can EAD.

If that was the case Lamar would be the leader which he is not. Lamar had 176 rush attempts. The hit count doesn’t factor in when qb runs the ball nor sack. Hits is only factored when the qb throws the ball in a passing play.

Wilson got hit 111 times after he threw the ball.
Lamar & RG3 only 59 times together. That’s the 3rd lowest, only Saints & Raiders had less.

Who in the fuck is calling Wilson crap?

Like any human with a unbiased even remotely mediocre football IQ would take Wilson #1 overall in the NFL restart league if you had that pick. Wilson is a passer first and runner 2nd which is why he stays healthier and is willing to slide vs taking the hit. This is where Jackson and even Kaepernick/RG3 (Jackson 1.0) long term will have/had issues.

Again why in the fuck are we arguing about how godlike Wilson clearly is and the best overall QB in the league and how obviously clear it is Wentz needs to protect himself more overall. Maybe next guys we should tackle what would happen if Winston just cut his INT’s to just under half for just 1 season… spoiler alert… Wilson would be #2 in the redraft league…

We’ll see what Cousins does now that he’s playing from behind for the first time in the playoffs.

I am disappoint :pensive:

Everyone thought the Cousins you got last week is what he’s supposed to be, but in reality last week was the anomaly.

THIS is the real Cousins we’re all used to. This is who he is.

I think his parents are ACTUAL cousins. Definitely some chromosomal anomalies.
