To clear things up further, I personally don’t equate “racial profiling” as “racism”. I’m Arabic myself, maybe not a Muslim but I sure as hell won’t get butt hurt when someone assumes that I am.
Depends on what type of morality has the most weight to you. If your code of morality is strictly determined by what the law is then I can’t really argue with you, even though the law is really just a loose set of guidelines to help reach a verdict anyways. Can also probably find something in some law book to counter argue that anyway so it’s a lost cause.
Not a law student, still can easily just cite the defense that Klimek used to win over the jury which was the “Stand your ground” law. Probably boiled down to arguing who “provoked” who, but even in the court of law I’d imagine that whoever took physical action first would be more relevant in reaching a verdict.
Was reading about general law of self-defense but I was right in that judgment boils down to circumstance and that interpretation of said circumstance is what is truly important. Also, there’s no other witnesses claiming to know what happened. Kilmek is saying the Muslim guy hit him first, and dude’s wife saying he didn’t hit at all. Who has more to gain from this situation? A bigoted asshole who doesn’t want to catch a needle in his arm for his crime or be big Bubba’s bitch for the rest of his life? Or the woman who just lost her loved one and is never going to get him back yet wants some justice?
At this point this just proves that you’re fishing for an excuse to be offended. Turns out that he actually is pre-military, I can now guarantee that he has an understanding that you can’t take a chance in a possible life or death situation. Seriously, please talk to anyone in the military or in the police force about how they handle sudden assault.
