There’s either 1 or 2 BND stories in every issue. The rest of it consists of an old ASM reprint, sometimes a story from another reality, Mr. And Mrs. Spider-Man (M2-Verse) and a new ‘Untold’ story by DeMattais that takes place during the old Lee / Ditko ASM issues.
People who have banned BND pick up Spider-Man Family just for Mr. And Mrs., you are allowed to pick it up man it’s cool. A lot of the people who banned picking up ASM just pick up Spider-Girl and Spider-Man Family, it’s the best way to show Marvel that you are against BND. Seriously people REALLY need to support the crap out of both books… Well soon it will only be one book… Don’t let two seven page BND related stories turn you off… SAVE SPIDER-GIRL AND ALL THAT JAZZ LOL!
Everything that happened in Amazing Spider-Man happened in Spider-Girl / M2-verse, but the split happens before Aunt May comes back to life, the first time (her first death happened back in ASM #400). So everything else that happened in 616 prior to that still happens in the Spider-Girl universe. Retcons that came after that like, Norman Osborn having kids with Gwen Stacy get the big hell no. Everything you recognized as being ‘true’ back then is still in effect. So Aunt May is still dead, Harry Osborn too.
The difference is that Kain rescued Baby May from Norman Osborn’s clutches (who fooled them into thinking that they had a miscarriage) and gave him back to Peter and May.
And the other big difference is when May was 2 years old, Spider-Man had a final confrontation with Norman Osborn. Norman died and Spider-Man lost his leg forcing him to give up his Spider-Man carreer. He became a forensic cop.
Oh and no deals with Mephisto of course… :wonder:
Basically every ASM issue written by Defalco after the Clone Saga still occurs (the Clone saga is overall important to Spider-Girl, she’s wearing Ben Reilly’s old outfit).
As for it being in the future, it’s written as if it were happening right now. So no apocalyptic future or anything. There’s no flying cars or things of that nature. So if you want, you can just pretend it’s happening right the hell now because the split happened in the 90s, it’s just about right.
And yeah, 616 always happens right now so just subtract 10-15 years from the current time and that’s the year the Marvel Universe (Captain America awoke from ice, Spider-Man got bitten by a radioactive spider, the FF formed) and there you go give or take…
EH DON’T THINK ABOUT IT YOU WILL GO CRAZY… HYPER TIME!!! :looney:
Not really. The 2099 Spider-Man that was a member of Exiles was actually from a different continuity then the one from the original comic. Something that confuses a lot of people, but it’s true. Well he’s not with Exiles right now anyway. He’s living with a Mary Jane Watson from a different continuity.
:wtf: haven’t read them in a while but a spidey2099 getting with a MJ seems seems kinda (time) forced. I’ll do some research (google & wiki) but i’m thinking i wont like what i find:bluu:
with much of Spider girl’s enemies being children of Pete’s rogue gallery there is still some room for M2 development, even if outside of 616 continuity.
Atleast Black Tarantula isn’t a jober crook with pointy feet anymore and has a kid:tup:
