Amazing! Justin Wong wins EVO2k8 X-Men vs Street Fighter!

im the best in this game everyone shut up

2 countries are under my belt.

good shit Vic.

Are you kidding? all this means is that you’re not good enough. you don’t have to win in order for it to be a counterpick. You can’t just go “well, i countered but I lost so it doesn’t count.”

possibly because you haven’t said shit and you have a comprehension problem. All you did was post a misguided opinion based on your own completely fabricated and unsupported beliefs. It seems that you don’t understand how debates work, so let me explain it to you. When you make an erroneous absurd claim, the burden of proof is on YOU not the people you’re arguing against. What is there to disprove since you haven’t proven anything in the first place?

Lmfao!!!

“quitting while you’re ahead is not the same as quitting.”

dog-face, you are still my hero.

Hey guys nice meeting you and getting to finally have some games with you, i enjoyed it a lot, such good XvSF players there it was really cool, congratulations to justin for winning.

You actually did exactly what some VF, 3S, CvS2 and whatever players did, according to omni.

Unless those GG players start winning some MvC2 majors, I could say the same thing for MvC2. You don’t see players from other games owning at that. And you can make this case even for Brawl.

This is not about games been better or worse. The thing about ST or XSF is that you don’t need to learn so many specific techniques to have a shot. To have a good MvC2 Magneto or Sentinel, you have to spend a couple years practicing execution and specific tactics hardcore. GG may be like that as well. However, all this means is that St and XSF are focused on mind games right away. You don’t have so many execution and knowledge barriers before you can compete, which may actually be a nice thing. As Sirlin points out, why do we have to learn all kinds of crazy hard stuff before we even start playing the games? Games are about beating the other player, and not just acquiring lots and lots of knowledge about its specifics. I don’t see that making games like ST or XSF any better or worse than GGAC, VF, MvC2 or whatever game its community feels is so much better tham all the others.

Power333,

You are reiterating a great point about XvSF, and it’s relatively easy learning curve. One of the greatest aspects of the game is that anyone can compete (still Storm is godly, but top 3 at Evo also included Charlie, Wolverine, Cammy, Cyke and Chun). And pretty much everyone has a practical infinite or reset. And, best part is, with it’s great combo engine, the game is a lot of FUN!!

As Justin proved, you don’t have to be an XvSF junkie to win. With smarts, sf knowledge, and execution anyone can play.

Team Scrub?

Practicing execution will take about a day. All you need to know after that is what you can punish with AHVB, and when to use your assists (which is pretty straight foward. Sentinel assist when the opponent is far, and CapCom assist when they’re close). Learn that and you could actually be semi decent in an extremely short time. You don’t need to learn all that addf stuff. Like Josh said, easily exploitable that is pretty effective.

You’ll NEVER find something like that in GG. Thats an extremely good, yet extremely bad thing. When playing GG you’ll spend more time in practice mode than actually playing them game for the first year or two depending on your character, which really scares away 75%+ of the people that try to play. However, its easier to discern which players are better at many levels of play because of this.

Justin of course plays Potemkin (the big huge bulky guy), who is the easiest character to learn with the biggest payback because his damage is retarded and you his execution is minimal (compared to the other characters). He still has frame specific moves and cancels that can take days to learn like the other characters. The equivalent of “Team Scrub” of GG. However, even with days, even weeks of experience with him, you won’t be “semi-decent”. I’ve played Justin Wong’s Potemkin, and while he is good, he cannot compete with the big boys.

If Justin can place even top 20 in any big GG tourney, I’ll REALLY bow down to him. Like haunts said, far too much time to invest in game that isn’t popular here in the states.

dude, how do you find the time to write this shit.
how do you keep coming back year after year with this shit.

also, justin rules…JOHN CHOI

He should put that time to improve in st instead :looney:

Justin Wong is my heeeeeeeeero!

john fuckin choi kid!

Obviously you play GG and have a right to defend that but please don’t try to bring put Marvel into that perspective when that’s what your understanding of the game amounts to. I could go in tons of detail but I don’t think you’re really interested in the game.

Justin does not play Potemkin.

He plays Baiken.

Actually, he switched last I heard.

And just to add to the discussion, GG has way too much depth to allow top players who only play it on the side (re: jwong, combofiend, daigo). Of course they will be strong but the game requires a lot of time/dedication to really be a top player, having good execution/knowledge of other fighting games will never be enough.

I don’t really see what any of this has to do with the results of the xvsf tourney at evo. Should we be seeing match videos? Who gives a fuck what game is better than the other one? It has nothing to do with this thread. take that shit some where else

sheesh i keep comin back to this thread in hopes of vids… wtf ? all type and no action hella whack

Two2one,
Aznretro posted the vids on youtube. You can check out all the mad hypeness!!
