Are there any fighting games out there with an alternative win condition other than emptying your opponents health bar, ring out, or being the one with the most health by the time health runs out? The closest to this I can recall is TTT’s when one character is done you both are.
Well for TTT that would be comparable to emptying the opponents life bar.
Technically Guilty Gear with the “finishing moves” (not actually sure what they’re called) as there isn’t any kind of lifebar requirement to use em.
Soul Calibur 4 with it’s Soul Crush moves. Since these moves can only be done when you’ve emptied your opponents Soul Gauge and there are multiple ways to do so I think it would qualify as an alternate win.
Fighters Destiny
The OP is a plant from the Smash community. He is going to use this thread to start talking about “ringing people out” in Smash brothers and how it is similar to things in real fighting games, but the only thing that should be rung out is his posting. Mods, ban this troll.
Lol but I listed ring out as a common way for victory though, as it’s been in some 3D fighters.
The point system was exactly what I was looking for though, thanks a lot guys.
Yea, it’s very interesting. Too bad nobody plays the game.
No one mentioned Bushindo Blade?
Instant Kills in GG/HnK still empty their life bar. They’re just 100% damaging supers.
IIRC, in PI:M there was an option of forfeiting.
Hence the technically.
an old classic: pick guile. hold downback until your opponent gets pissed and punches the machine. watch him get thrown out of the arcade.
Garouden: Break Blow has a “Tug of War” system, in which both players share a bar. Whenever one player does damage to another, they gain more territory on the bar, while the opponent loses that same territory.
Funny that someone make a new Fighter’s Destiny thread and now someone ask about this… the point system in Fighter’s Destiny was so original, sadly no one plays it, it’s by far the best fighting game on N64 (the two titles)… and you know that saying that doesn’t mean anything at this rate.
thats what every alternate win condition is.
well, for landing the fatal kos on hnk you have to take the 7 stars so i think that could count
also the destroy attaks for the original GG, they killed you the whole 2 rounds if you were touched by them :looney:
Dream Mix TV World Fighters?

Games like Barbarian and Time Killers have death blows that enable you to win via decapitation.
Weren’t the death blows in Time Killers relatively easy-to-land moves, too? I remembered that at least Mantis’s neutral jump spin attack move would decapitate on hit for a OHKO.
Technically, Bushido Blade could be thought of as every character having normals that dealt 100% damage.
Surprised nobody has mentioned The King of Fighters XI yet.
The wincondition on timeout is not based on whoever has the most life but by the stance of the judgment bar. It’s the circular thing around the timer, if you do more attacks/combos etc. the judgment bars becomes more in your favor.
I must say though, that I’ve yet to see someone winning by timeout in that game ever. But it’s not like the internet is overflowing with with KOFXI footage.
