Ahh Jermaine, I knew you were up to this shit all along talking shit to get people to play MVC2 again. Well you know what, it’s working, I want to play your ass if nothing more then to show I still have it. As lame as it sounds the fact that you think people like jinmasta are better then me kinda pisses me off, even if he is (which I kinda doubt). I played with effort for the first time in a long time last weekend and I have to say it was pretty fun and I wouldn’t mind playing you again as long as you can scare up 2 sticks, but whatever, I’ll never be as hardcore about it as I used to be, and I don’t see myself in practice mode any time soon…
Dan, all I can say is practice mode, go to the storm thread and learn the bread and butter combos then practice them till you can do them then practice doing them starting with triangle jumps and all that good shit till you are consistant, cause if you can’t do shit in practice mode the chance of you doing it in a match = slim to none, also watch other people play and steal their tactics.

My stick has already claimed the lives of 3 Dreamcasts and counting. It’s a terrible force that I won’t unleash on another Dc till i’m absolutley positive that nothing will go wrong.

If you want to get serious about this game make a few trips to Philly/NJ/NYC. If the trash talking gets cut down alot everything will be fine. People read this thread and assume people from VA are just a bunch of trash talking idiots with no skill. It makes everyone just look bad. I personally don’t know how much time I will have in the up coming months to play because I have to focus on school alittle more. I am always down to play some games if I have the time.

JB:, 99.9% of anything you say about video games always refers to NYC/NJ/Philly. We know where the top players on the east coast are. If your always refering to them so much, why dont you take some of your own advice. You’d be runnng VA if you played with them as much as you talk about them.
The only thing i ask is what is your purpose for getting better? Is it for your own enjoyment? do you plan on showcasing your skill and repping the SOVA name or something? I can understand you wanting to get better at Marvel and all, but telling Foomy to STFU and play CS is wrong. Especially since you havnt payed your dues to even be making rankings for SOVA. This is all childish and i shouldnt care but for some reason I do.
I think its all good that you want to get better and I think its great that Sova still has a group of people willing to play marvel. but have a lil respect for the people that helped build the name “SOVA” as ridiculous as it sounds. The old heads did it by traveling and challenging the Best VA had to offer when Gametime was around. I for one have played the best in the country and I know what kind of skill level is required to even be competitive.
If you are training to get better to rep SOVA then you got a long way to go. If you are doing it for personal enjoyment then there is nuthin wrong with that. Just respect your fellow gamers is all. If you feel youve been wronged by foomy or anyone else. Be an adult and talk about it. Hell, this area had a scene before it was even called SOVA, and has produced some top players. but those days are long gone. And probably will never come back unless by some miracle we get an arcade.
I dont know you personally, some of your comments bother me from time to time. But im just stating my opinion. If you wanna get better. You should be asking for help and not putting up rankings that no one has earned. Yes your rankings bother me a lot, but i dont have the time to play anymore to get my name up there. Ask anyone who has seen me play I can teach you a thing or two. When I do get time and there is an event down in my neck of the woods Ill show up and just play so you can see That im no push over.
Not here to try and make anyone quit marvel or keep playing, but I went through this with another game. I played tekken all the time, won tournaments, beat top names, traveled with friends and had a good time. After a while though, I just started hating the game and I quit. I know how it is to be sick of a game and you just want to drop it. Best thing to do is just that, drop it. In all seriousness, if you dont have fun playing marvel then you shouldnt play it anymore. Im actually not having fun anymore playing casual games because its the same old shit. One person plays serious and the other starts to complain or call the other person cheap for playing to win. I like hangin out and chillin with the sova crew because its always a good time with you guys…but I dont think everyone should play marvel just to be there.
I was thinkin of making a little scrim clan for CS with random players online and the sova chumps. What do you guys say?
playing serious around local areas is stupid IMO… casual play is for learning and figuring out strategies, not playing ur hardest to see if u can beat some1, thats what tourneys are for :\ but we will see at NC :\
Fuck that. You guys wanna get good, you got more then enough skill in your area. Go to Richmond, they got skill. Play with foomy whenever he comes, he’s still mad good. Play with me whenever i’m around, you guys have more then enough people to play with. I play cause it’s fun to travel and chill with everyone, fuck the beef.

When I first went move back to NJ last summer I was getting owned in marvel hardcore. It took me a while to to catch up with the level of play in that area before I started placing decently in tournaments. I still get beat by NYC but when I went up there this past Winter and started to beat some of the NYC kids whether it be in a tournament or casual I noticed I did get better. Everytime I go up there I learn something new about the game or see something I had never seen before.
I am not saying I am the best in VA nor am I the best in VA yet. But playing people from PhillY/NJ/NYC will make you better. The only way to get better is to take L’s. Winning all the time doesn’t really make you better because you can’t learn from your mistakes. When I play Issac/Foomy/Shamy/Omar/Dave/blur (can’t spell is name right) I don’t win but I am still learning at the same time. These guys know how to play the game.
When Sanford came down here you guys quit playing him because you were losing all the time. I didn’t stop playing him because even though I was losing he was showing me where the holes were at in my game. You can only get better by playing people who are better than you.
And you are right about playing people better, Sanford even said that after me and him had a few matches. You were sitting right there, he said “Chris has got skills for VA…let him come to NYC for a month with me and he will be up there.” But oh well…me and you should get some games in whenever you can. I leave in August so make some time from now and then.
You are right chris but people were giving up on playing him after a while. I was like Why? I think when it got to like win 237435763 people just were like damn we can’t beat this guy. Plus it was like 3am too and I think everyone was getting alittle tired.
All i gotta say now, its fuck all you haters. So many negative post, so many people that dont wanna see us succeed. Just whispers in the back.
1 tournament aint gonna judge wether i get good or not either. Charlotte in 2 weeks, i could go 2 and out, i dont give a fuck. Just more play against better players. More stuff to learn, another chance to improve my skills. Hang out with my peoples from other tournaments and have fun with OwnedTV!!!
