Alpha 3:red flash counter

Hey there
Could someone explain a bit about it?
I read some explanation in some faq but i can’t find it now.
The point if i remember is trading counter hit,and then moving the joystick or something…
thanks for any help

As I understand it, each attack is assigned a “priority rating”, and the super armour/red flash would take effect where a trade would otherwise occur. Higher rated moves will “absorb” the lower rated move and continue in their animation. When two moves of the same rating hit at precisely the same time, a trade of hits takes place.

Ratings:

Normals:
Light - 0
Medium - 1
Heavy - 2

Specials:
Light - 2
Medium - 3
Heavy - 4

Alpha Counter - 4

Supers:
Level 1 - 5
Level 2 - 6
Level 3/X-ISM - 7

There’s more to it too, with regards to the location of the attack’s hit box. I will update once I have all the details.

I just found the faq about it:

" ---------------------------------------------------------------------
DAMAGE REDUCTION

COMMAND:
When getting hit by an attack, press in any direction plus any
button. Sometimes it’s possible to do this with just a joystick
press, I don’t know why.

NOTES:
Doing this slightly reduces the amount of damage you take from an
attack. You’ll know if it worked because you’ll flash red while in
your ‘damaged’ pose. This can be done repeatedly against multi-hit
attacks in order to conserve more life.

Furthermore, if you’re in the midst of an attack and are hit, you
can perform the Damage Reduction and your character will continue
the attack, instead of going into hitstun. Think of it like the
Super Armor found in the VS. games. Thanks to gdawson@angelfire
for this bit of info.

LBDanGC@aol.com also suggests that doing the Damage Reduction
command can result in your attacker taking added damage (sort of
like a Counter Hit). I haven’t been able to confirm this, but
it’s entirely possible."

In fact it deals with damage reduction while mashing buttons being hit,but he says something weird about doing the damage reduction while being hit in the midst of an attackto avoid hitstun and win priority

Damage reduction and super armour are two different things.

yea i know that.
But then i don’t understand what he means by this:
“Furthermore, if you’re in the midst of an attack and are hit, you
can perform the Damage Reduction and your character will continue
the attack, instead of going into hitstun. Think of it like the
Super Armor found in the VS. games. Thanks to gdawson@angelfire

I don’t think that’s quite accurate. The red priority flash and the pink damage reduction flash aren’t really even related, though I understand how people would conflate the two.
