To anyone who’s gonna be in the area. A3 tournaments get thrown together at random SVGL tournaments, and at both previous NCR tournaments (usually about 12-20 entrants). Even if there wasn’t a tourney, there’s good A3 comp. I’ll probably be there on Saturday the 13th.
Our house has just started playing alpha 3 we went from UMK 3 to KI1 and 2 then MVC 1 and 2 and have spent the last 4 months playing MVC2 hardcore on the DC.
I purchased a Blaze minitwin controller and the first time we sat down for some 2 player arcade styles and it killed controller port 2
So we decided to play a little alpha 3.
I love it.
There no cheap runaways when you are almost out of health its not a masher by any stretch and it looks nice to boot.
Long story short Im an AKuma Goki fan and would love a nice breakdown of how to cause as much damage as possible with him
Combos etc I know hes an Xism character but after slowly searching around here I cant find a difinitive Akuma section.
Wait until you see v-akuma but is propose you play A-ism to get all his options. Get a hang of his ground normals before going to anything else.
The deal is not purely for dishing the damage, it’s to go for guard crushes and poking.
I took the other guys in the house down 33 games 0 last nite but it was lots of 3 and 4 hit simple combos. and I use the raging demon now and then I dont consider it cheap.
One specific question though.
With a shoto AKUMA for exmaple a missed or blocked dragon uppercut always leaves you open for a sweep theres not way around being swept is there ?
I think shotos are about the feel of the moves (like most characters).
You should have fun and try to execute all his moves and incorporate them into your play smoothly. Like one game you have 4 moves: J.rh, jab shoryu, fierce hadoken and low forward. The other game you have the kujin kyaku, low short, st.strong, b+hk. Have fun with your akuma and try to assimilate the proprieties of his moves. There are multiple ways to anti-air, to poke/keep-away, to combo (although damage is prioritary) and custom guard crush strings are quite effective if you know your moves.
Ken becomes invulnerable for the rest of the match. I forgot the details, though (it was somewhere in the middle of the older SFZ3 thread, if you can find it), but IIRC, it was right after a DP.
Sure. Lemme check to make sure it’s still on the A-Cho site for ya. If it isn’t, I can always send it your way
EDIT: The vids are down, right now they have new Capcom Fighting Evolution vids. Lemme know when you’re on next time via AIM or something and I’ll make sure you get the A3 ones
