More Dhalsim strats would be nice also.
Against gief its a pretty simple game especially against non-V gief. St. Rh pretty much all day, cr. fierce against lariat. Those are basic strats, iām sure someone else can fill in the blanks
Some more questions Who is the better for me to learn Akuma/ Ryu/ Dhalsim and What is the best mode for Ken?
Bah, thatās all up to you.
Sim I think is better in the long run, but thatās a LOT more effort than learning a shoto IMO. Most everyone is kinda fimiliar with shotos.
V-Ken is easily the best Ken. But you can win with the other ones, just as long as you ALWAYS land your supers. Especially if you land a d.LK or d.LP.
If you can land a LK x2, but donāt use your lvl3, well then youāre just wasting your time.
V-ism helps out in avoiding and countering other VCs, but if you can land your supers and still fend off the VCs, youāre in good shape.
Although V-Ken stilll gains a lot of stuff the other ones donāt. If you have the ambition to learn him, youāll probably be better off.
@Drunken Master
I can hardly use Sonic Boomās to get closer to him, which is normally my way to get into offense. It is also hard to defend against his air attacks if I donāt have a VC ready, I donāt have always the time for a Flash Kick. It is also freakin bad, that I nearly everytime must look out for buffered throws. My main problem anyway is, that my friend who plays this Zangief, can execute his supers damn fast. Letās say I block a poke and get nearly in the same time hit by the super. My only strong point against him is, that if he is under a lot of pressure he loses fast the control of Gief.
I have narrowed it down to between Ryu and Akuma but iām still having a tough time to choose between them. If someone can list advantages and disadvantages between these 2 it would be great. Leaning more towards Akuma though.
Akumas advantages are:
DiveKick
Air Fireball
Hyakki (Demonflip)
Hurricane Kick (Fast, multi hit, juggles)
Does 20% more damage
Disadvantages:
takes 20% more damage
dizzied easier
VCās are tricky
Ryuās advantages:
Takes Normal Damage
Takes Normal dizzy
cc infinite
Disadvantages:
Not very strong Mid screen or anti air VCās
Iād suggest Ryu, strong basic character that leaves room for error.
Whats Ryuās cc infinite?
My best quote on Kalliera
So I was playing this scrub named A Perfect Circle and after running through a 15 streak with Dhalshim on his various chars, I used A-Bison to crush him. Anywho hereās a short snip from the chat window
<A Perfect Circle>:beat me with boss
<A Perfect Circle>:whooie
<Ryu1999>: hahha
<Ryu1999>: he sucks
<Ryu1999>: he doesnāt have the super duper psycho crusher
<A Perfect Circle>: whoop die fucking doo
<A Perfect Circle>: hes still the fucking boss
<Ryu1999>: say it, IāM THE BOSS BITCH!
LOL Boss Bison isnāt even that great, sure he has the Super Psycho Crusher, but its got long startup, its really only good for catching jumpers and people who do super laggy moves.
His nice upgrades are his new FP punches, they have unbeatable priority and huge hit area. Other than that, hes just a high damage Bison.
Jin: Ryuās crouch cancel infinite is just crouch cancel jumping SP in the corner, the problem is getting them up there to start it. Iām sure there are some old posts around here about it.
Ok thanks.
Will be practicing some V akuma and v ryu tonight and will decide who iām better with.
Any good videos of proffesional ryu and akuma players would dbe nice. just give the link to download. Thanks.
Most groups of A-cho vids have a V-Akuma in there somewhere (heās too cheap :))
Go to http://www.a-cho.com/index.html and down on the bottom right are links to new videos (they have āNEW!ā flashing next to them). The ones with ā(GO)ā in the title feature Akuma players.
As for V-ryu? I think there was one in the last set of A-Cho vids? Look in the A-Cho thread to find the name if you can⦠then see if someone is sharing it in goforbroke.
Daigoās got a sick V-Ryu and uses him almost exclusively. If you can find an A3 vid with Daigo, itāll probably be V-Ryu. (search in the hub)
EDIT: at the A-Cho page, there is also a link with āShi-N-Ya!ā and āZooā in the title. Team Zoo has a Ryu player. I dunno if itās V, but chances are it is.
Thanks alot for your help!
Iāve been fooling around with V-R. Mika a bit, and found sheās got some good stuff to try and compete with.
c. FP - USE THIS!!! ALOT! surprisingly enough, there is very little recovery on a blocked close c. FP, it doesnāt seem really punishable at all, however if whiffed, youāre in trouble. If you are close, this is a great poke that does good damage, has little recover when ~whiffed, and is good anti-air.
c. forward is also a nice poke.
c. strong is odd, thats really all there is to say about that.
VC2 - c. FP, RH Butt attack*N (can alternate between FK and RH butt attacks also) is probably her best VC, does good damage, is easy, and can be done anywhere.
Sheās pretty simple in terms of strategy, just poke and keep up some semblance of aggression, look to land your VCās, and get some throws in.
You can watch the computer use Mika on expert, shes quite tough unless you realise most characters cr. SP can out prioritise everything except a st. SP or Paradise Hold.
She has to play close, poking, counter pokes and tick throws, the computer is quite adept at faking with her as well, but basically if you can keep her out, she canāt do all that much.
From what Iāve seen her crouching kicks are used as pokes, st. SP is a reliable anti-air, but you have to time it well. I think a good Mika could come from basing your strategy on the CPUās close poke/counter poke/tick throw/paradise hold game.
Hey⦠Not sure if anyone bothered to respond to this, but :
2003.9.21 : acho_zero3_20030921d.wmv
V-rolento (loses) vs V-ryu - very close match
2003.11.9 : acho_zero3_20031109g.wmv
V-rolento (loses) vs V-sagat - another very close match
2004.3.21 : acho_zero3_20040321a.wmv
V-rolento (loses) vs V-ken - rol manages to win a round
The āz3 final combos.mpgā which use to be at SFTChina.com has a mediocre (imo) v-rolento combo in it.
I also created a replay for FBA of a v-rolento combo, but youād probably not be interested since itās insanely diffacult to pull off.
bah⦠I havenāt met a combo I couldnāt do yet. Hit me up.
thanks for the acho info btw.
Mika is fun but sheās sorta gimmicky. Her st. fwd is a good move but sometimes it gets beat out by moves you wouldnāt think should touch it. Also her, kick SPD sucks. maybe it was cause i was expecting gief-like range but still, the range is horrible. if one could learn the distances of her various delayed butt hops, one could learn to abuse it for basic tick->grab super for A-Mika (or i guess bait moves to VC through)
Just saw the alpha 3 videos at acho and damn those players are good. My V akuma is no where close to that guys own. I have no idea on how to pull off V combo like those players. They end up with infinites when they finish how the hell do you do that? What is the best V combo for akuma for beginners?
No problem on the acho vids. I unfortunately donāt have anything dated pre-2003 though.
Pretty bold statement. I do believe I have seen some people trying to pull this v-rolento combo off, but Iāve never seen anyone hit with it consistantly, which is why I made this video (to see if it were even possible).
At any rate, it was recorded using : Final Burn Alpha version 0.2.94 with Street Fighter Zero 3 (Japan 980629). Iām sorry I recorded them in SFZ3 and not SFA3, but if you (or anyone else) needs the emulator or rom, let me know ( I could just spend an hour making it into a .wmv movie file, heh) ā¦
[Edit]: PS. The opponent can tech before the last 3 jumping roundhouses, making the last 5 hits not a ātrueā combo, but technically the last standing jab (hit #50) can be canceled into his knife toss instead, making the combo a total of 51 un-techable hits.
Iāve seen a combo video that ended with rolento juggling his jumping pogo (down+forward kick) repeatedly for an additional 5 hits to end the combo, but I canāt seem to get the timing down on that. Theoretically, if you can pull it off, you should be able to end it with 4 pogos, a jumping jab (in the air after the 4th pogo) a standing back+fierce and cancel into his knife throw⦠In theory, anyway.
Anyway, hereās the replay :
