Alpha 3: Q & A

thx buttermaker, you are the man

Umm, st. forward kick/MK is great against shotos. Its my way of saying “bye, thanks for playing” if they try to play traditional footsies with me

I downloaded the first part of the 2002 Ulltimate ZERO II tournament, in the 3 on 3 section there was an A-Bison who beat a V-Akuma, I don’t know whether it was luck or controlled crazyness

Bisons pokes you don’t really have to hit with, I whiff with cr. SP in front of shotos and they often get counterhit since they are trying to start their own usual pokefest.

I think X-ism is his worst, the Psycho Crusher is largely useless, and having a lvl 3 kneepress nightmare is suicide sometimes. Besides he doesn’t have his teleport in X-ism either.

I think A-ism is probably his best since he has good damage, can AC, can teleport or runaway with dives to build some meter. Has the Psycho Shot which seems to be weak on paper, but can set up jump-ins and can even bait jumpins when you want them as well, its not really a projectile you use for damage, its usually used to hold people down so you can jump-in or approach to start a poke string or throw.

V-ism I think is very interesting if you want to play Bison, since if you charge often you’ll usually end up using the back+FK kick which isn’t as good as regular FK, as well as other moves coming out wrong since your holding back all the time(However b+RK is a much faster anti-air than regular RK). I think he would be very dangerous with his VC’s however, the amount of possibilities Bison has involving Scissor Kicks, Psycho Shots and Teleports is amazing, he may be able to do true unblockable confusion VC’s since I remember hearing that he could do them in A2. He could do guardcrushers by pinning down the opponent with a Psycho Shot then activating VC and going nuts. His regular Damage VC’s can be started with a VC Scissors basically giving him a 50% damage option from 1/2 screen if an opponent lags. His AC changes as well to an actual hitting version as well which is a nice change.

Anyone seen those recent acho V-Ken matches? I was impressed with what that Ken could do, the player made use of every one of Kens moves in play. Seems like the only problem was reliably landing a VC.

I would like to see the a-cho V-Ken, but I get kicked out of the damn vid channels on IRC for no reason.

I’m sharing them in the hub if you want 'em.

Can you even do that hadou rave business on console version? I suck at it…

The vids are still up. Ken is in a, c, and e: www.mfr.jp/acho/movie20.htm

You got kicked because you didn’t read the FAQ.

whats the actual charge time for charging moves and supers?

(i.e: Charlie’s flash kick and super flash kick).

Im asking cuz Ive seen people only having to charge for 1 second and they are still able to cancel into his flash kick super or his normal flash kick.

Well good charge players will immediately start charging after they’ve stopped moving forward or jumping, usually they hold themselves in place during a charge by crouching or throwing out standing moves to keep themselves stationary.

You can also use charge buffering as explained in Apocs charging faq, I ended up having fireball wars between Bison and Ken

But yeah a charge is usually one and a half seconds or so I think, you usually get familiar with it once you’ve been playing charge characters for a long time.

For some reason I think bison’s headstomp has really short charge. If you throw a FB, then charge down you can go into headstomp right after.

Maybe it’s normal and just seems short? I dunno.

Here’s a crazy charging trick for console that I don’t know if is common knowledge or not… new to me anyways.

DJ can throw a max out and immediately do any super or hyperfist/upkick afterwards. The maxout is so short and recovers so quick you can use that one charge for other specials after you have used it for the maxout.

I find hyperfist/upkick afterward is hella tight, but the supers seem easier. You can even do it in combo! Combo into max-out then link a super afterwards… ANY super.

DJ is retarded.

Mathman, Mathman, Mathman, Mathman, Mathman, Mathman, Mathman, Mathman, Mathman, Mathman, Mathman, Mathman

Too good

hehehe oooOOOooo yeah

That A-cho vid rekindled my love for SFA3 as the best fighting game ever. It’s fucked up I wasn’t a competitive player back when it was popular.

command normals

I was toying with cody and I just noticed Cody’s f+MP. What the hell is that for?

Also Rose’s f+MK. That’s a weird move. If you touch with anything but her foot it’s a MP, but her foot is a RH.

Not exactly a command normal, but V-Rose’s B+MK… I dunno. Is it better than her s.MK?

EDIT oops, I meant f+HK. The soul piette thingy.

Are there any sites other than Gamefaqs for char faqs for this game? I need faqs that are more in depth with more detail.

Check the SF Storyline FAQ at GameFAQ’s if you haven’t already, its about as in-depth as you can get.

I mean like guides or strategies, etc…

Seriously, you’re probably better off looking through these forums. I can’t think of a better english site for A3 info.

If you search right, you can usually find what you’re looking for. Usually everything has been discussed to death here. If not, just ask a question.

^.^ hello ^.^ I have been playin street fighter alpha 3 for years now and my charlie is ok (no where near as good as you guys though ^.^) but i have been playin as akuma/gouki for a lil while and i need to get his OTG demon flip grab down for my v-ism stuff…i might sound daft but how the hell do you do it?
