Alpha 3: Q & A

One of the headbutts is actually a really good anti-air, but I forget which. Try using the level 1 divekick super from kick style, if he depends on normals as anti-air too much. Speaking of kick style, try crossing up in that mode also, since it has a longer jump, and you can do it from a little further away.

Punch style Standing Fierce and standing Roundhouse both lose? That would be interesting…anyway, if you have good instincts, you can just predict a poke and super it, but of course that’s a little risky. Also mess around with that psychic DP that was mentioned earlier.

honda is pretty decent all around. bob painter had a pretty good v-honda back in the day. he can do some damage. and the vc is very easy. his jab headbutt is good anti air. so is s.fierce. dunno much more about him tho. never really liked honda’s character design to use him much

What’s up with everyone asking about Gen? I through people prefer playing Sakura or Akuma.

Anyhow… thanks for the input about how good is Honda.

So here is a few stuffs I learn from my basic games against Honda: Gen is better in the air than Honda…

So basiquely I keep on jumping vertically in front of Honda and kick in KKK style (well I am lazy… I do that against almost everyone except Sakura). Usually I get a critical hit if he tries that headbutt. If he tries to counter with a standing punch, well that’s the time you got to fake it, or use your air super level 1.
If not, I can just poke him out of headbutt with LP all day long without getting hit (KKK style only).
If I get a little too close to hit, I can also crossover and grab his fast ass while he is charging again for the butthead (Gen in KKK walk faster than PPP style), and goes for the super combo.
What else can I bored you with? If you see this guy staying on the ground too long waiting for his buffer to get his headbutt, just cross over him using the damn walls, and bingo, he doesn’t have any more buffer. Moreover you can do that move all day long and fall straight on his head or behind him to avoid the counter HP.
If he try to grab you in the air, tech that shit. Even better, grab him. Eh… ok that’s it for the basic of KKK style.

Now PPP style is just a strategy about poking and breaking that guard… And since I am here, I think everyone already said it, but this is a reminder: Gen special “100 hands whatever junk it is called” is worthless. It does shit damage, shit guard break, doesn’t stop nothing without getting damage(including all rolls), doesn’t increase much your super, take forever to start, and is so damn easy for your opponent to know what you are trying to do(I mean… who can miss the sound of someone hitting like a fruitcake the LP button). Only the comp is good at that move, and can pull off a 7 hits combo.

I didn’t even bother taking too much about the supers cause that will take another page.

Waiting for your Honda expert input how you will counter my happy rabbit jumping “Gen”.

i have to disagree about the thousand hand in one way, there is a way to buffer it off his s.lp,s.mp which masks the startup and execution plus the mp version is relatively safe when blocked, a missed matis cut super can be semi salvaged with mashing thousand hands as well. its not totally worthless.
now what i know about honda is that his pokes and his thousnad slap have serious priority over gens pokes in matis style. also his j.mk i think stuff most air to air. as far as i rember.

  1. “if Gief jumps in with a shallow (early) fierce, mashing on P to get Gen’s 1000000000 hand slap should stop any SPD attempt.”

  2. “mashing P after can interrupt a c.SK > SPD tick attempt with Gen’s rapid punches.”

true or false…?
i’ve played this matchup tons, but way too long ago. also, are the answers the same for Blanka, Honda and Chuns?

I was just wondering if there any vids out there of Nibor’s V-Cody besides the “North East Championships 3 Trailer” one; where he plays against V-Akuma at the end of the vid.

If anyone knows of any vids could you please post the link/s to them

i have some old replays of me and some buddies playing on kawaks(not kaillera matches) and im using cody. whether or not my cody is on par with nibor remains to be seen. but the wc knows about how deadly mine is  i can find the replays on one of my backup cd’s if you want em

ok i have a question, what are the commands for ryu’s v-ism that valle did at evo? also with which two buttons do you activate? is it lp+lk, or hp+hk? i’m asking in regards to this combo. as in which one has the least lag so you can cancel the moves faster

didn’t watch that match, but the one where shadows have less lag is lp+lk.

ok now for my question. ** what the hell is the timing for v-akuma’s OTG combos. ** i mean i’m comboing the flip from cr. rh, but even with perfect spacing, i don’t know when to press f+p or whatever the demon grab is. HELPPP. (and yess, i checked the side specifics)

it’s the fireball one. i just need to know how many to do before i cancel into the mk.

you otg the opponent on the 2nd bounce of the fall. the opponent bounces twice when they fall to the ground. get em on the 2nd bounce. timing has to be really good. patience is a must

Yeah I would like to see those matches man
But how would you get them to me?

You don’t know of any matches of Nibor’s V-Cody besides the one I mentioned?

I never said honda>gen . I was pointing out that honda can be a good char.

On cornertrap last september they put up some matches from summer jam 2 in philly. There were a couple matches of me vs ricky ortiz, but i don’t know if its still on the site.

Hey Nibor,

I always wanted to take up V-Cody, but had never actually seen him used properly, until I saw you using him… VERY GOOD V-CODY MAN

Thanks for that “Summer Jam 2” vid, but unfortunately it is offline. I heard that there is some “hub” or something like that on the net that has a lot of SF vids. Do you know what I am referring too? If so, what are the details to access it? I was just thinking that maybe the “Summer Jam 2” vid will be on there

Nibor, i had the opportunity to almost play you on kaillera a couple times before, but something always got in the way of a chance to even start to battle with you.
I’m not going to be on kaillera that much longer(at school on T1-T3) cause of being at home on dial up for summer :frowning: unless i get a cable connection
So i’d just like to know if you wanna have a match with me anytime soon?
The only fun i’ve had on there recently would be matches against my buddies, Walchuk and Ryu1999 for V-ism for actual fights where people knew what the hell they were doing, and against Viet Cong for classic mode fun.

A-Ken FOR LIFE

Could someone please tell me what the properties are for blocking a DP in the air? Because a majority of the time I do get hit by it, but sometimes I am able to block it and I was just wondering why this is so.

Also, How do you know if a certain move has more priority than another move? For example, how would I know if Rose’s crouching Strong has more or less priority than Chun-Li’s crouching Fierce Kick? If this has already been covered could you please point me in the right direction

  1. in general, moves that connect while the attacker has his feet planted on the ground aren’t airblockable. obviously soem exceptions exist (eg blanka’s electricity).

  2. trial and error. really.
