please don’t share the link with TOO many people, or the servers will get rocked and they’ll take the vids down.
If you’re on narrowband and only have time to get one of the videos this year (the file sizes are ridiculously huge), get the first one. You will need windows media player 9.
Damn I have to go to japan someday and join these tourneys.
Those were awesome, I own the previous Zero 3 video Beat-Tribe made and it was action-packed just like this one. I’m glad to know that everyone can finally experience the amazing Japanese play.
what do you guys think about vega (claw) in A3? i love playing him in cvs2. does any of his priority on his pokes carry over to A3? what are the best anti-airs to use?
vega is really good in a3, mainly in v-ism. not much use in the other isms. his best anti air is flip kick. it has excellent priority. but its air blockable. he dont really have any good normal AA’s. you can poke with him like you can in just about every other sf game he is in. lots of c.forwards and c.strongs. plus he has cc j.short infinite which is a plus. hes a good “2nd tier” character. hes just as annoying as he is in ever sf game. so not too bad
Vega is pretty good. Since he jumps so high, I just jump up to meet people in the air, air-throwing them every now and then. In A-ism, his level 3 Red Impact makes a pretty good anti-air. But you lose the flipkick, so it’s either one or the other.
I think a lot of people would play V-Vega if his anti-air midscreen was easier to pull off. He’s very good…actually somewhat user-friendly, but not in the way that a lot of other characters are.
vids from the link I gave have been changed to new ones (sim vs akuma, gief vs karin, sim vs gief.
V-Vega is a pretty good character, with an mindlessly-as-pie rolling damage/guard crushVC, and a difficult flip kick VC.
Priority wise, Vega is somewhere mid to low. This, IMO, is his biggest weakness, and partly explains his Z3 strat of scratch -and-run. He simply won’t win if he tries to trade blows.
His flip kick is his best anti-air, and is his highest priority move. Pretty dang high priority, in fact. So, unlike, say, Charlie’s flashkick, which is also air-blockable, you can afford to wait a bit until your opponent is low in his jump before you do the flip kick, reducing the chances of being air-blocked. If I remember correctly, unlike other blockable anti-air moves, there will be times when the opponent will land a bit too far away to punish Vega.
Unless your opponent knows how to kattobi 100% of the time, Vega is an auto win against Gief. Simply do a pixel of damage then run away. Zangief can’t catch him. Against “zoners” like Sak, you can deal a single point of damage then force them to come after you, which is a good thing against these kind of characters. Vega, unfortunately, losses horribly to Dhalsim. Dhalsim just plain outprioritizes him, and Vega can’t run away from Sim. Akuma can also give Vega problems, since he’s the most capable of running after Vega, plus that dive kick is practically unstoppable except by the flip kick.
This is his rolling combo, both damage and guard crusher, but for damage purposes it has to be done near the corner. To turn this into a midscren crusher, tack in a few slides (around 3) before the roll.
VC1->[flipkick->whiff slide] repeat
midscreen anti-air. This is difficult because the motion for the flipkick is very exact. A slight deviation in motion results in an Izuna drop/wall climb.
Vega mid AA: VC2, s.jab(or d.jab), [rh flip, back+RH] xN. Does about 50% if i remember correctly…
He has other ones which consist of mainly back+rh, whiff rolls and s.fierces after the flip for more damage, but it’s EXTREMELY tight… so i gave up trying to learn it.
this is all you know who to do??? why in the hell are you even giving tips on how to play when you cant even beat quasi or harlem hero’s girl and they both suck at the game.come on find a new game to play like mutants.you fucking suck and so does your little boyfriend that brings up the rear.
dont anyone listen to this guy because he sucks in this game.if you wanna learn how to play,go to the arcade and pratice
Thanks Sabre. Yeah i have no idea whot his guy is. Its probably someone from ctf. If he’s from ctf why doesn’t he just confront me if he doesn’t like me so much. Anyway, I don’t really feel like spending the time to reply to his message.
Hmm… Other than that non sense, this is a pretty good thread… Lots of good stuff to learn…
One thing I found interesting while playing A3 and I have not really seen anyone talk on this:
When you VC Dhalsim at any point he can reversal teleport out of VC, I had always thought that was really stupid having given him an ability that pretty much makes most VC’s useless sans resets… One thing I found out though is that the teleport properties is tied in with the roll properties meaning at any point you can touch the ground to roll (Hold 2 kick) you can teleport out of VC… The interesting thing is that OTG’s or VC’s that start with or have a command grab somewhere within the VC will negate the roll, so in effect Sim can not teleport out of VC until it ends and including CC possibly?? But the thing is that I was playing on DC version, and DC version is notorious for being ASS… So I want to know if this applies to Arcade version at all?? Thanks in advance to any that reply…
DANNY! sup homie! hmm thats interesting, might have to try that out when i have the chance bro.
dood, its turning into ass out here. no one is fucking playing anymore. i havent talked to neil in like a month, and it was atleast another month since before then. he dont ever come around no more. he just sits at home and plays cvs2 live. fool works right down the street and he doesnt even come by to even say hi anymore. that shit irritates me. and he has no phone at all for me to get a hold of him. geoff and sebastion(joe one handed terror) moved to cali. dan, the other guy that plays a3 (used v-sim on me at nov tourney), i havent seen since that tourney. hes collects unemployment i guess and plays socom all day. its all mvc2 out here now. im pretty much left alone for the most part now ive been tempte to move out to cali myself at the end of summer when my lease is up. i can actually get some good job opportunities if i go out there so who knows. it just sucks here now game wise. i never get to play anything anymore. i havent played competitive a3 in a month. i think ive played good sessions of a3 like twice in 2003 which is shitty. no chance to ever play:( bums me out that i cant play my favorite shit. all thanks to shitty live and mvc2 bleh…
Just chilling really… Haven’t touched A3 much as of late, except for the few occasions but I still play the same which is good hehe… Sorry to hear about everyone on the outs and shit… Was planning on coming down there sometime again, it would be good to see you guys again… We’ll see though…
If you are moving let me know, other than that stop by Vegas sometime and kick it!!! I am considering going to ECC8 and MWC this year… Haven’t been to a good A3 tourney in forever and plus I would like to go to those events at least once if anything hehe… If anything hit me up and let me know what’s up with ya ok?
I think A3 players should start their own city. We could just take over some small town in Kansas or something, and nobody would really do anything about it, because nobody would know. Worked in Children of the Corn.
Ummmm… That’s good and all, but everyone knows that eventually some random white couple whose car breaks down in our town will figure that our town is evil (They always seem to come to that conclusion) and start offing us left and right… And quite frankly I don’t like the idea of them putting me through a shredder machine and spreading my innards in some corn field (Mmmm corn)… Other than that I am all for the idea!!!
