I have a little question :
I know that when a character flashes red while being attacked it means that damage reduce occured, but what’s the deal with a character flashing red while attacking ?

Myabe its been answered before, but I was wondering what are the uses for charlies dash and dash knee hit. I cant for the life of me figure out how to use it or where to use it. I mainly play A-ism which I know is not when he’s at his best, but whatever, I’m just goofing off anyway. Thanks.

I never see his dash knee used outside of VC’s, it’s pretty useless. However I do see the normal dash used from time to time, but not that much (mainly used after launching a sonic boom when the opponent is at the other end of the screen).

For a few weeks I have been using Karin, and she’s one of the more fun characters in the game. A few of the characters in the game are able to knock someone in the air and have enough time to jump and slam them to the ground for massive damage. I have had WAY more luck with this when I use Karin.

So I found this: jump in with a deep FK, QCF+JP to SP to FK This sends them into the air Double OCF+RF to do her hand slap super This get’s them even higher you’ll land before they do, then jump and grab them. If you fudge the grab, you’ll at least get a punch/kick in. I do this if they are launched too high.

I haven’t seen this in the arcades…

Or you can nix the super and just jump and grab them. It does a nice chunk of damage.

To me Karin is a high-risk player. Her moves have slow start ups, but once you’re in, it does good damage. I love her free counters :wink:

If you mash on buttons while being hit, your character will flash pink, meaning they’re taking less damage than they’re supposed to be taking if they hadn’t mashed.

If you attack and your character flashes bright red, um, I don’t know what it signifies. But my speculation based on countless observation is that two attacks of equal priority connected at the same time and the bright red flashing one wins out without trading hits.

Uh no, you heard of priority ratings ? Not the hitbox/hittable box one, the hardcoded one. Normals(Weak -> Strong -> Fierce) -> Specials(w->s->f) -> Supers(w->s->f) the alpha counter is among the specials in term of priority. But correct me if I’m wrong.

If 2 attacks collide (hit/hittable boxes) at the SAME frame, the one with the highest priority rating will win, visual result being a red flash.

Uh, ok. Next time want to just add the correction without the attitude?

Yo sup guys, I have some trouble against cody. Mostly A-cody for that matter. As much as i try to not get in the corner I usually end up there and get guard broken. C.jab, c.jab, weak tornado owns me hard in the corner. I think he have frame adavantage over that too so when i try to attack I get caught with a sweep or that hop kick, I think its forward roundhouse or forward forward. Its hard to stop him from jumping on me too and i can’t jump on him cuz of the rocks. Btw I play X-ism.

Any advice? thx

Which character are you using? And if you block his upper its basically a free hit for you.

Does anyone here know how to do zangiefs kattabi cancel (the thing were he jumps the lengh of the screen in v-ism)?

Hi Lust, I just tryed to make my post short and dynamic so it’s easy to understand.

Juchel.Zero, there are to priority ratings in SFZ3 or any other SF game. Such thing simply does not exist, if you search the all about SFZ3 book you will not find any info about this.

Oh and fuck V-gouki, this bastard is waaaaaaay overpowered. I just watched the ultimate direction videos and masumi’s team (also composed of daigo and a great cody player) got ocv’d by a random dumbass gouki. It’s so rare to see them on video that it pissed me off that they lost like that :lame:

I don’t know of any games that have a priority number system…for all fighting games that I know of, priority is a combination of speed and hit detection. If I’m missing any really obvious examples, please correct me.

I remeber hearing that there was a number system you could set up in EmuGEN (a program that lets you make your own fighting game), but also hearing that hitboxes would override the number anyway.

That said, The red flashing in A3 (of the attacker), is more or less one of these systems, but the red flash is really the only situation where it seems to matter…and it doesn’t even matter then, 99.99% of the time.

It’s not quite as simple as two attacks colliding on the same frame…there are a lot of situations in which you could cause that to occur, and no red flash will happen. Likewise, you can take any red flash occurence and recreate it in training mode or with another person. It must have somthing to do with the hitboxes of the attacks, but more than that, who knows? Attacks which have similar hitboxes, I’m guesing, but I can immediately recall exceptions to that- Ryu’s Level 1 fireball super flashing on my crouching Forward, and Akuma’s jumping Fierce red flashing on Juli’s crouching Strong.

Sorry, I was in a really crappy mood that night. Just took it out on a harmless post. My apologies.

I really need help against zangief. I hate this character with a passion (and chun li too), I just can’t seem to handle him. Whenever I get close to him he’s in range to do his FUCKIN STUPID BODY SPLASH (oh god how I hate that move). So I try to stay at the right distance to use down mp as antiair (with guy, rose, cody…) an it works well against the body splash if I time it right, but when he gets that move countered he starts mixing it up with jump hp and jump down mk and my anti air gets stuffed. It seems like I can’t do anything to prevent him from getting close, I feel totally helpless agains him. It’s really frustrating
because a lot of the times the zangief player isn’t good at all, and still he manages to give me a really hard time.
What are some good tactics against him ? Are there any counter characters for him ?
