Almost completely useless Marvel facts

Some of you may already know this but quite a few people never realized this in my town but anyway; the color of your life bar is also the type of assist you have.

For example, Red Health Bar = Type A assist, Green Life Bar = Type B assist, and Blue Life Bar = Type Y assist. This is another way to know if you actually picked the right assist for your team in case you forgot at the select screen. Blue and green can be a bit hard to tell sometimes though.

I think it’s known and it may have already been mentioned, but Cable can combo an AHVB into a ground HVB if the AHVB is as low to the ground as physically possible.

EDIT: He can also combo a low to the ground AHVB into a j.HP. But that happens to actually have some use as opposed to none.

If you hold your assist button rather than pressing your assist button, it will not come out. It’s pretty useful for counter-assist baiting if they expect you to call your assist to get punished.

strider can slide under sentinel low mouth lazers, but it sucks because it doesnt go under immediately. you can only go under the low beam once he gets into a full slide animation.

after dr. dooms rh ground throw, vs cable doom can get a quick jump jab and cable can’t block it. i don’t know if this works against anyone else , maybe does, but against the top tiers ive only seen it work on cable. definately doesnt work against mag/storm.

For some reason, no matter what you combo into it, Captain America’s Final Justice always does the same amount of damage.

If you ground throw Storm in the corner with Sentinel, she will be pushed a little bit from the corner making it a bit tougher to OTG her.

Also, if Sentinel air-throws Storm while she is on the way to doing her Hail Storm, Sentinels arm looks broken like it’s split in two. Wierd.

This isnt what I was talking about actually. I said VA tourney, it was the final Gametime tournament, and the player was James Voodoo Contreas.

Sonson’s um… d/f RH, the spin on the pole, can actually go through an opposing character if you have some forward momentum, similar to Psylocke’s b+RH. Like for instance, run at someone, call rocket punch assist as you approach then do d/f rh. You do the kick and end up behind them, then rocket punch comes out the other way and smacks homey in the face for free combo.

If you ground throw her with anyone she pushes you back. Even with Grab Supers like Beautiful Memory.

  • The term Shoryuken is a portmanteau of the three Street Fighter protagonists: Ken, Ryu and Sho - who is, in fact, from Captain Commando.
  • Chun-Li rhymes with ‘chutney’, hinting at her favourite sauce.
  • Cable’s time-travel intro is incorrect, since it’s common knowledge that one can only travel through time when moving at 88mph.
  • It’s possible that Magneto’s name is derived from the word ‘magnetic’.
  • Felicia cries “Let’s go!” with the japanese lilt “Retsu go!” - a subtle throwback to one of the earliest Street Fighters.
  • Shuma-Gorath is an anagram for ‘A HAM TROUGHS’, indicating his secret profession as a pig-keeper.
  • Cable’s name is a reference to cable TV, which has disappeared into myth in his era.
  • The colour of Gambit’s kinetic energy is a manifestation of his sexual behaviour, hence the pink tint.

As you can see, Capcom have left subliminal messages all over the place. If I spot any other cryptic references, I’ll keep you informed.

wow.

haha what???

a cable was throwing a grenade at me the other day. I punched it away with IM’s lp…

that sonson pow glitch happened on my dc

dooms unblockable sweep can evil if used right. this one guy down here got it on me…I tried getting up he did it again, I tried rolling he dashed to the right spot and did it again. I couldn’t escape and I kept on rolling and he still got it…but eventually he messed up

when mashing captn commandos throw if done right can take all of your opponnents life. and even after that they can still be electrocuted. eventually they’ll turn a grey color and you can actually take a break from mashing and they’ll still be getting shocked…

This only works if the opponent doesn’t countermash.

of course, but still. and as long as they don’t counter mash as good as you are mashing!

  • Captain Commando’s hp grab is random. [who will he call]
  • his qcf+lk does no chip [i think]
  • Sentinel’s arm when doing rp is still considered to be part of his body. [e.g. hitting the arm would hit sentinel].
  • Cable’s c.mp has slightly longer range compared to his c.mk… i noticed this when i was doing both c.lk -> [c.mk/c.mp] -> s.hk -> TK-AHVB.
  • Magneto’s s.hp is sometimes useful. [be it for annoyance or for s.hpxxtempest DHC hailstorm].
  • i think these were already mentioned. sigh… just trying to mention some things i noticed…

Not really. If they even tap the button a couple of times, it’s enough. Which is totally unfair :frowning:

“Sentinel’s arm when doing rp is still considered to be part of his body. [e.g. hitting the arm would hit sentinel].”

Under this principle, can’t Gief SPD Rocket Punch? I remember reading that somewhere. May have been specific to either ground or air SPD… Anyone shed any light on this?

To expand on this the game itself will compliment/question your assist choices by either saying “cool decision” when you pick the recommended assist or “that was unexpected!!”.for any other assist.

Most likely not. Zangief can’t grab Dhalsim’s limbs, either, and that’s been around since WW.

Wow, I never knew that! I always thought the game just said it randomly. Interesting.

Anyway, Thanos is the only character who has no air-throw.

Dhalsim is the only character in the game who cannot be “resetted” (a la Magneto, Storm, etc.) since everytime you stop a combo, he is able to reappear and block on command.

Zangief in Mecha Form loses his defense making him only able to attack and unable to block.

Eh? I thought he said “That’s what I expected!”

One of us is the fool…
