All right, so when I saw Brubaker last night, I told him about the Church of Bru. I didn’t bring anything from my collection for him to sign, so I just bought the Criminal TPB on the spot. He thanked me for my purchase and I told him, “Yeah, I’m a big fan and I already have the issues. But Criminal’s just too good.”
He was standing next to a stack of Scene of the Crime TPBs, so I added, “Yeah, I even have the TPB and issues of that.” The Bru actually looked impressed, and said, “Wow, then you’ve been a fan for a long time!” My heart grew wings and I got giddy like a school girl.
Then I told him about the Church Of Bru. He laughed pretty hard and said, “That’s hilarious!” Then he shook my hand and then I made way for the next guy. He was basically surrounded by a gang of patrons so I didn’t want to slow down the procession of those paying tribute to our lord. I didn’t explain to him what shoryuken.com is. I just told him that we “have a website where a group of your fans call ourselves ‘The Church Of Bru.’” He seemed to enjoy that well enough. Plus, he’s Bru, so he’s probably omniscient and already knows about our cult.
But I don’t have a camera so I have no pics.
i am ashamed. i wasn’t able to make it on saturday. but i have been doing my penance. i have forced myself to play svc nonstop. only 7 more weeks to go :sad::sad::sad:
Zephy with that story there’s no need for pics (would of been funny to see bru’s face after he heard about the church) it’s all good. I’m glad you brought up the church to him but didn’t say it was from SRK.
He would of flipped out of his seat and probably go “Street Fighter fans love my books!!!” or something simular to that. I do plan to raise to Church of Bru all around the comic forums!!! When I do spread the word, I’m gonna tell them all our Pope’s name is Zeph!!!
Also Ever it’s okay for not showing up man you and I will have another chance before the year is over with to meet the GREAT lord BRU!!! His HOLY power shall not be DENIED for anything!!!

Arch Bishop? Lol I shamed the Church of Bru when I met Brubaker and spent most of the time talking about the possibility of Cerise showing up in Uncanny X-Men a few months back. And I made no mention of the Church. If anything I’m at the level of the kid who collects money in Church. Whatever I get / find out I pass on to the higher ups and that’s it. Oh hey I used to do that in real life when I was a kid! Don’t worry, I’ve never been molested.
Is the Brubaker story in Black And White v. 3 the one with Ryan Sook art from an old issue of Gotham Knights? For that matter, are all of the stories in the Black And White books just the backups from Gotham Knights, or is there any original material? I suspect that they’re all the backups, but I just wanted to make sure. Damn shrinkwrap stopped me from checking myself when I was at the store.
And I am disappointed that Veronica Mars has been cancelled. To tell the truth, I haven’t watched any of Season 3 episodes. Maybe it’s my fault it got canned. That sucks. I’ve been recording all of the episodes, but I just never made any time to watch them. I spend too much damn time reading comics, I guess.
I really did think about telling Bru specifically that the Church Of Bru was based in shoryuken.com, but there were just too many people that I didn’t think I could explain it well enough. I guess I coulda just said, “At this Street Fighter website, a group of fans and I started what we call The Church Of Bru” but then he might’ve just been confused. Ah, whatever. I’ll do some penance for this sin.
Hahahaha, oh, man. Holy crap. So I was checking out Isotope’s website, and they have some pictures of the Brubaker night. I’m actually in a couple of them. The good news is that one of the pictures is when I’m talking to Bru!

Anyway, it looks like he’s either about to sign or he just finished signing my Criminal TPB, and I think that’s the moment I’m telling him about the Church! Look at the expression on his face; maybe it’s my imagination, but he looks shocked or confused or something. I usually don’t do double posts but I thought this might be a worthy motive… I only pray for forgiveness for not explaining Shoryuken.
