However vast majority of people don’t realize that uTorrent was bought by the MPAA like 4-5 years ago. What they do with the data they collect is probably obvious. That’s why people use it in combination with something such as PeerBlock to ban corporate IPs.

uTorrent installs a toolbar during installation also, but it is optional.

and fyi, I thought that uTorrent wasn’t owned by the MPAA…that was just a rumour because early during the beta, one of the viruses floating around uTorrent would send your data to the MPAA to be dicks. So people assumed it was them behind it all.

I don’t think it’s right to marginalize someone just because they have a dissenting opinion. I wouldn’t say that someone ‘just wants attention’ because they disagree with me, and I would appreciate that courtesy from others.

I didn’t come into this thread with the attitude that I should be able to control what you guys talk about. Instead, I voiced dissatisfaction. The reason for this is because I feel like ultimately threads like this are destructive to the community. If you want to widen the audience of the FGC you need to stop treating it like some boy’s club or men’s locker room. I’m not trying to control what you guys talk about, but realize it’s a topic that creates an environment that might be seen as very unprofessional. There’s a reason why you wouldn’t talk about stuff like this in the work place and if you did you might get in trouble for sexual harassment. But that’s just my opinion.

On a side note, I find it ironic and little hypocritical that SRK didn’t want to be linked with the porn industry and there’s a thread on their site that’s now up to almost 150 pages on the topic.

1. I wasn’t aware GD was some separate entity from the rest of the site. Like it or not you’re still on SRK, and what goes on in here does reflect on the rest of the site when people visit. If you don’t want to be affiliated with the FGC at all, I don’t think you’re doing yourself any favors by being here.

2. I’m new here, and the presence of this thread surprised me. I was merely stating that fact that it was a put off to me and I could see how it might impact others.

3. Just because I dislike something doesn’t mean I want to censor or control it. You guys are free to do whatever you want, but just remember every choice has consequences.
