I have just been watching a match between Poongko and HydeBUFFY (linked below) where Poongko used the Tanden Engine to pull HydeBUFFY (HB) in towards himself, at which point HB did a reversal EX Rising Jaguar (EXRJ) and lost to Poongko’s DP?! I checked the frame data and the EXRJ has 8f of invincibility - it is ‘strike’, ‘projectile’ and ‘throw’ invincible, but not ‘all’ - that sounds like all to me. So then I checked out Seth’s DP properties and that has 5f of invincibility, but it is ‘all’, ‘strike’ and ‘projectile’ invincible. So I guess the reason Adon’s DP lost is because it’s not ‘all’ invincible. Is that right?
Could someone please tell me what this mysterious ‘all’ invincible alludes to? How does it differ to a move that has strike, projectile and throw invincibility?
Well…that’s strange. The wiki does refer to Adon’s DP as being all invincible as well as Seth’s. Seth’s DP might have won because Poongko delayed his DP, so Adon’s DP ran out of invincibility frames before Seth’s did because Seth’s came out later. Not sure though.
The EXRJ does have 8f of invincibility, but it isn’t active until frame 5.
Poongko can (and probably did) wait until frame 4 to do his DP, at which point his EX DP’s 5f of invincibility will outlast his opponent’s remaining 4f.
It’s a pretty sick read if it was intentional, as that option would’ve lost to just about everything else.
@Sleazoid Are you sure about the EXRJ not being invincible until frame 5? I thought that if it said ‘All (invincible) 1-8f’ that it meant invincibility started from the get-go meaning from/including start up, rather than counting/beginning from when the move becomes active. If so, then I’ve made some major oversights!
@handa711 Strike invincibility is hits from normals for example. So it can absorb a poke.
Just realised that his only answers half of my question. I still don’t know why Adon’s EXRJ isn’t considered ‘Full invincible’ (they recently updated/changed the name) considering it is Strike/Projectile and Throw invincible - maybe it’s a mistake/oversight?
