I would just like to point out that, just because these gems exist in the code does not mean they will be used.
There’s a DS party fighter called Jump Ultimate Stars that has a system kind of similar to the Gems, and if you were to have looked in the game data, you would have seen a Help Koma (basically Gems) that gives you Infinite SP Meter. Thing is, it’s dummied out, inaccessible without hacking, it was never meant to be used by players. So yeah, just because it’s there, does not mean it will ever be usable.

You can see in the BCM files that Guile has a different command for his Alpha Counter:
GUARD_CANCEL 0x54b4 0x248 -> HP FORWARD HK 0x5220 -> ALL +MOTION BUTTONS +DIRECTION

Everyone else’s that I’ve looked at is:
GUARD_CANCEL 0x4e5c 0x240 -> HP HK 0x5020 -> ALL +MOTION BUTTONS

Gem set-ups are supposed to be portable via USB drive so you can use them on various machines, like at tournaments, right?

Do you think it is possible that the currently unavailable gems can be selected for play from an edited file on a USB drive? It would probably ruin USB for tournaments if you could call “illegal” gems from an altered file.

I’m sure a ton of these gems were possible in a very early, pre-balancing build. It’s probably much easier to make a very open system, then tone it down for balance. Just like Marvel 3, we see evidence of how broken the game engine can be in H&H mode.
