PC demo sounds like ass, but the console demo is smooth as butter. Alien is off the hook with fun factor.
They already patched it. It’s better than the console demo now.
Gotta love PC.
im too stupid to come up with any legitimate reason why you would want different sensitivities on different axis. can anyone explain this to me?
i also got it for the ps3, will give it a go soon!
im outi
Roberth
Hm. I’ll probably take another look at it. I was about to try the Steam PC demo, but then Steam is offline for a couple hours
Honestly, I think I like the Aliens the best. While playing the Marines gives you that ‘oh shit oh shit oh shit’ feeling 24/7, the Aliens ability to run around shit and drop from the ceiling just presents itself with too many cool opportunities. Also, I’ll have to give another try with the Focus attack thing. Seems like it would make the combat a bit more interesting, I just couldn’t figure it out on the fly while getting shot at
Good shit. Its nice to know Rebellion is on the ball.
Talking about the blindside melee kill.
THANKS.
It’s rock paper scissors.
Aliens > Marines
Marines > Predator
Predator > Aliens
This is the general Hierarchy. The game is quite balanced from what I’ve seen. Each species has it’s own unique pros and cons of course and I’ll try to explain some traits that can apply to them.
Marines are really great in DM because they can kill steal like crazy in FFA. I can’t count the times I’ve killed two or 3 guys in one instant because they were busy fighting hand to hand while I just came around the corner and took them out. It happens to me all the time too when I’m playing the other races. Marines have that rapid fire and can take anyone out from a distance.
Aliens are the most agile in the game. They have the best mobility, situational awareness, and methods of survival in the game. They have that oh shit I’m gonna die soon so let me get on the wall and bounce strategy or let me just chill here and ambush you when you don’t see me.
Predators have the best melee in the game, if one of them is in your face you’re probably gonna die. They have excellent situational awareness with their vision modes and they can hide in the shadows with cloak.
There’s a lot more I want to talk about with melee combat, but this video pretty much covers it all.
Guard > Light Attack
Light Attack > Heavy Attack
Heavy Attack > Guard

Aliens also seem to have the longest range for stealth and trophy kills compared to the predator, plus their heavy tail attack has insane reach compared to the pred’s heavy attack.
I’ve been able to hold my own vs pred’s as an alien if they don’t have any secondary ranged weapons, the aliens speed and range is enough to get through the Pred’s Zangief like health, but once they get anything like a disc or shoulder cannon, it allows them to block and counter with projectiles, and that is not good for the bug’s.
So yeah, in most cases, an alien doesn’t want to be in engaged in long drawn out fights, get in, get a a kill and leave, and don’t be afraid to withdraw if the fight is taking too long- an alien can heal over time, and come back for revenge later.
Never played the first AVP because im not a pc gamer, but ive always heard good things about it. This game is gonna be GOOOOOD. My first ( and only) match with the aliens i spent the whole 10 min trying to figure out how to maneuver the freak. Learning curve seems to be pretty deep but once u get it should be pretty dangerous.
Marines are actually pretty cool, weapons are good frags own and the radar actually makes you feel like your in the movie. Playing as a marine actually creeps you out aliens come outta nowhere and rape you:tup: Ive had better success with them walking around with the flashlight off as not to be spotted as easily, then turning it back on when aiming at someone.
Predator :bgrin: Is the reason why i wanted this game since i heard it was coming out. Strong pretty fast and just cool as all hell. Prolly the only race im really gonna pick because playing as him reminds me of being a spy in Splinter Cell Chaos theory Multiplayer:pray: You need to collect his other weapons but if you run into anyone his melee game is quite sufficient (use block) Did’nt really use the disc and proxy mines much, but the cannon and spear are good. The cannon locks on targets but, it gives away your location. The spear you have to manually aim but they NEVER see it coming:rofl: Spear owns!
Controls take a lil while to get used to but once you get a handle on using the focus correctly, you feel like a god. Predators run is godlike for geting out of situations or in them. See some one run+ focus jump+ instant kill. Took a lil while to figure out how to heal myself but for buttons with multi functions ( cloak/heal) just press and hold the button for the second function.
My only gripe’s are i wish the Predator could crouch… And i wish there was a 3rd person view.
Aside from that, im hype. Wanna see the other multilayer modes and levels, and the one player mode is looking beautiful. Im not going to work the day this game comes out
fuck the steam demo
it errors when i try to install it
fuck
On Live here, demo is amazing. Will be buying this.
Dunno about the predators, but the Aliens can see you from a mile away regardless I guess it helps with other Marines, but screw FFA. I always kept it on.
So true:sweat:
the game is weak. It has some nice ideas, but overall i’d say it’s below average. Dunno why they were lazy and didn’t make a proper pc version, but the game def. suffers because of it.
I watched some vids of the demo and it looked shit-your-pants intense as a marine with that monitor constantly going. The alien looking disorienting as hell, but interesting.
I don’t know how people are liking this shit. The game is pretty terrible. Maybe if it came out for Super Nintendo I’d be impressed.
Deathmatch mode sucks
I was just playing with a group of friends, we had about 6 people so there were only a couple other players in the lobby. We were running a no-teamkilling rule and even did some teamwork, it was pretty fun. It’s a bit annoying having friendly marines on the motion tracker and the sticky aim tugging toward your teammates, but it did give a decent sense of what team games will probably be like.
The game is definitely a bit rough but every game has its flaws, and I am willing to overlook quite a few of them for a game that lets me play as a Predator. I figure if this demo is fun, then the final game with more maps and team modes should be really fun, especially at LAN gatherings.
I get hella dizzy playing as the alien, not to mention running past my target half the time.
Ah, the rationality of gamer critiques. Good luck with that.
