The concept art is cool but seeing what they were going for, i’m not into it.
Probably couldn’t have been worse than Prometheus.
After Alien Isolation proving itself to be fucking awesome, i’m okay if that turns into a series and becomes the only continuation the Alien series gets for a while.

I liked the idea behind this Alien movie. Would have had them take the whole Derelict spacecraft, and just put it on Earth, and had Weyland-Yutani fuck with it (I’m guessing that would also lead to the demise of Weyland-Yutani). Seeing Hicks back in action, with his burned up face, sounded great, too.
The fact that Ripley was planned to be involved in it in any way is what turns me off.
Her story should have ended after Aliens IMO, her character feels like a dead horse that no longer needs beating.
she needs a proper sendoff. She hasn’t really stopped Weyland-Yutani at all, she just keeps killing aliens. She needs to basically end WT for good, and kill some aliens, then retire from the series. I’d hate for her last outing to be Alien Resurrection.

I have successfully erased most of that movie from my mind and i’m forgetting more about it every year.

Ripley was a hard woman with a hard labour job that happened to continually be the victim of a very horrifying circumstance. There also isn’t any way or reason for her to be able to take done mega-corporation Weyland Yutani and she shouldn’t be able to. That’s a (admittedly badass) woman with no high-reaching connections or super-human abilites trying to take down a extremely powerful and far reaching company that can very easily have her taken care of with their endless supplies of money and man power. This isn’t Robo-Cop taking on OCP, this is a normal ass lady who has seen some shit trying to take on a far reaching(like, on multiple planets far-reaching) super corporation.
Futility is nice in movies sometimes, especially when it makes sense, not everything needs a happy resolve.
I’m ready for something new with the series, someone new.
She let’s the derelict ship (being kept at WT headquarters) full of aliens go and infect all the high level scientists and CEO’s and executives, yeah that might kinda fuck the company up a little. Especially considering some of the pics show Ripley using the Space Jockey equipment. Hell, she could just let news leak about whats been going on. You seem to not realize how easy it is for big companies to fail, due to some bad publicity.
It was established in later movies that Weyland-Yutani went under, so this isn’t exactly a far stretch.
No way are WY keeping that shit at their headquarters lol. Thats going to be on some remote moon, with high level military security, ready to be nuked out of the f-ing sky with everyone still on it (like Janek described in Prometheus). They have plenty more Space Jockey ships now thanks to the Prometheus mission.
How is she going to leak news, she isn’t Snowden, she just knows how to fly a mining spaceship and kill aliens, she’s also been asleep for 100 years or so, she knows nothing of Earth. Her single handedly taking down a multi trillion dollar company is impossible. All the Governments of the world would be heavily invested in Weyland, Governments probably fall without Weyland, just like the banks today, WY is too big to fail.
While there are plenty of things that are wrong about that(The Furious One already went over them), the worst thing is that their HQ is undoubtalby on earth(though there is no way in hell they’d be keeping the derelict there), and crashing a hive of Xenomorphs into it would lead to the planet being wiped out within weeks.
Also, Weyland-Yutani collapsed then reemerged with almost even more power than before, according to the wiki.
Neil Blomkamp to direct new Alien movie!
SICK! I was hoping after he showed all the hard work he had put into his idea, it would pay off.
so stoked on this news. blomkamp is the perfect choice to revisit the franchise. more excited for this than prometheus 2

There really shouldn’t be any more Ripley, her story has been told.
Especially not if she’s going to be hooked into a bunch of alien bullshit. Putting an queen inside of her was a stupid fucking idea, cloning her with alien DNA was a stupid fucking idea, and having her wear an alien suit is a stupid fucking idea.
Why can’t this movie just be about a normal person against an evil corporation and a species of living weapons.
At least we got Alien: Isolation, something sweet to wash over the sour for a little while.
I’m not sure, absolutely hated Elysium, Chappie doesn’t look like anything special just retreading old ground. He wouldn’t have been in my top 5 directors for the Alien franchise.
I’m really worried about Prometheus 2, Ridley just seems to have completely lost it, I liked Prometheus but it’s plagued with issues and Exodus was terrible.
Blomkamp is probably the best bet to give this movie the greatest chance of both success and fan acceptance imo. His movies just capture that Aliens vibe, the way he can mash together mecha action and human drama is top tier, nobody has gotten the balance as perfect as him in movies yet.
Might not like some of his stories, but if he can run with decent Alien lore and keep his action style I think it will turn out (visually at least) very good. Depending on what characters get used and to what extent will determine how good of an actual movie it will be.
I thought Prometheus was a catastrophic failure, I rate it lower than the AvPs, the only thing they did right was the look of the Engineers and that shit was already laid out for em, if this new movie needs to shit over anything established by it, then so be it.
Ripley wont be back, I would love to see Newt replace her but she is defo dead in the EU, Hicks is very much alive somewhere in the universe though thanks to Colonial Marines (lol it came in handy) and having him to come back to tear up shit would make an insane movie.
Or is this thing another reboot? 
Elysium was “meh” and Chappie looks shitty in every possible regard.

I don’t know how involved he is in the writing and idea process, but hopefully he hires some people that are better than he is.
I have no faith in this movie, I’m just going to end up crying into my plush face hugger and playing Alien: Isolation DLC.
I doubt it’ll have as much bullshit as surrounding it as Prometheus(which IMO was a bunch of fantastic ideas mashed together terribly) but there is nothing here that even get’s me remotely hype for this.
Maybe Sigourney, but Sigourney make everything better.

Chappie has non-human protagonist done in CG(kind of like seeing if MC never taking off the helmet in Halo movie woulda been made)
Prometheus 2…man i wish David had just said “there’s another ship” and the movie just cut to black lol. Gonna have a hard time reconciling that ending short of saying Charlize was a android and she hiding away from planet with more dudes. Don’t think David and Shaw could carry a movie by themselves.
Also, after studying prometheus for a bit…it seems to fall victim to an issue i have with Ridley’s movies sometimes…willing to sacrifice story and character for an overall flow and rhythm in editing, even if not to the benefit of the movie

Managed to get Giftbearer fanfix which received a lot of praise when it was first released, but the Special Edition seems to be considered the best fan edit to date.
