Anyone play XI on a regular basis? it comes out on PS2 in a week so I was thinking about getting it except I don’t want to learn the game for nothing like what happened with KOF 98-?? with no one to play against =P

Andy: Don’t get it twisted, kid…I promote fun AND competition in fighting games…but I know the difference between a BAD fighter (Mai Otome, Primal rage, blah blah…), an AWESOMELY BAD fighter (Hokuto no Ken, SVC Chaos, blah blah blah…) and a GOOD fighter (Guilty Gear, Tekken, blah blah blah…)
my point is…play what you like, but take notice to what the serious competitors are playing and WHY. Get yourself hardcore competitive in GGXX^Core all you want, but if you wanna play a little Project Justice or something on the side to have fun with friends, there’s noting wrong with that.

Well, it did. I’m sorry you got so bummed about it. I play the game to have fun. The stick not letting you pull of charge moves is fine, but blocking is a different story.
I have an import copy that I love playing. Sadly I’m not in every weekend due to college and other business. XI is an amazing game and I say pick it up. It’s definitely a different animal than the other KOFs. Pick it up, and I’ll throw down some matches if I’m in town.
Most likely I’ll be there Friday night, and I’ll be bringing KOF Regulation A (pending on…well…stuff 
). I also bring NGBC, Sam Sho 5, and I just bought AOF Anthology… I’m ready to throw down this mess of a game with anyone.
I’m not gonna be there this week. If it was a lot closer, i prolly would be, but sadly, its just too far to go every week. Rest assured, i will be back on another friday i have off, though.

It’s cool, I understand, but instead of calling someone a scrub player behind their back why don’t you save that air and give out some advice instead? I’d rather you say “hey man, you should try this” instead of complaining when I jump attack. When I play Super 2 T with friends it works for getting in. I learned that it doesn’t work that well since it can be grabbed out of fairly easily, but you honestly just weren’t blocking, and were getting pissed over it. I got the point that it wasn’t an effective strategy when you started using Blanka and were grabbing me right out of the air, and that was cool, but you just sat there with Vega and let yourself get beat by an alleged terrible/cheap strategy, which at the time was working, sorry the back feature on your joystick wasn’t working very well. I’ll be glad to play a few more matches next time, maybe with less jumping, make sure to start with the working stick so I don’t hear anymore excuses, just good playing.
Geez, I thought Cracka was just joking around with the whole “jumping in ST” thing. It got serious here all of a sudden.
To clarify, me and Rob played some ST last week at CAD. He picked Chun Li the entire time and for the most part I played Ryu/M.Bison. I opted to play ST on stick, but I’m really terrible with executing DPs on Japanese-style sticks, so I ate a lot of Chun’s jump LK/MK.
Now granted, Rob did a lot of those jump MKs on OKI so it crosses up. The other times he hit me with it, I was trying to compensate my inability to execute a DP, by doing normal anti-airs instead (like Ryu j.MP, Bison j.MP, etc.). At times, with less than desired results. So I really needed to execute well to stop the hilarity.
With that said, jumping has its place in ST. Here’s some:
- Crossups
- High-priority jump attacks that has a lot of space coverage (Chun Li’s jump kicks)
- Fast “diving” attacks that are difficult to anticipate on reaction (Dhalsim’s drills)
- MEATY jump attacks as oki so it is IMPOSSIBLE to reversal DP (because the other guy can land immediately and block safely)
- Meaty jump attack, into tick throw (instead of doing a low), or meaty jump attack into overhead (think Ryu’s stand MP)
- Jumping straight up, and doing a falling attack (especially if you’re being fireball presssured).
- Finally , jumping in is OKAY if a fireballer is out of his sweet spot, and you can jump right in before he could even do an anti-air.

Yosh is only my apprentice at bulletball. Yosh still only plays bulletball, i play bulletball extreme which is meant for much more serious play. You must be careful while playing bulletball, since it is a high caliber table game.
