Regular tournies with decent amount of people coming is good enough for me.
Make them on weekends, have Guilty Gear (although I’ll play a myriad of other games, too), and if by “fight night” you mean small $2 tournaments, that’s cool too. Hopefully I’ll hit up CAD sometime this weekend.
STFU, son! You don’t live here!
Competition.
sell pizza/chinese food and alcohol, and open a head shop next door and you’ll see the entire chicago scene move to the burbs. if only I was kidding.
CAD is right next door to a liquor store, there’s a chinest takeout place a few stores down, and they regularly smoke the hookah. there’s also subway and a couple supermarkets…a mickie d’s down the road…and pizza could probably be delivered…there’s WAY too many pizza places in the area
Bumped for glorious justice.
Alright, talked to Cliff about my ideas, and he agreed with them…with that said, here’s whats up:
Fight Nights are Friday Nights at around 7-8 PM weekly
3 bucks to participate in the fun, any and all fighting games welcome.
By default there’s gonna be at least 1 TV (we’re workin’ on gettin’ more) and one modded fliptop PS2 (2 by default if I show up…which I WILL but mine is hard drive, not modded) available. Let me know in advance if you want the Dreamcast action (MVC2 and the like)
The First Fight Night will be next week, 7-6-2007…be there.
Count me in.
Fight Night? Not to sound shitty but I wont drive all the way to Algonquin if no one else there plays what I play. Your buddy’s place sounds pretty nice though.
I play 3s.
I play 3s too.
hey jose, if you want to head out next friday or whenever this goes on, just let me know. if you want to meet at my place, I can drive out.
also kenny, what time does the place close?
Sounds awesome, is there gonna be some 3s?
Jose: The big three there are Nathan, Cliff and Myself…
All three of us are good at HnK…we play some GGXXwhatever suffix…and then it diversifies from there…you know I play damn near everything…
Everyone: I don’t get why everyone is worried about Third Strike…if you want to play third strike there…friggin’ pop that shit in. attract some kids to want to play, and they will. the point of these gatherings is to promote the genre itself and bring in newcomers who will want to learn…not to be picky. (And to bring in mre cash flow to the place…so we can make things BETTER and get people to WANT to come back) I’m only really worried about having enough TV’s to accomodate the varying tastes…the less possibility of hogging, the better. Please bear with us, as this is the beginning of something that could possibly be great (we get enough heads in the door on a consistent basis, we’ll start having tournies)
Jim: officially, the place closes at 11 pm on fridays…but I have yet to acually see that happen, as we tend to stay as late as I would at your place.
Everyone, again: I, myself, won’t be arriving until sometime after 9…since I work 2 jobs and all…but I’ll have my games and shit on me everytime I come…(if you’re curious as to what all I own…just ask) If there’s something I don’t have, but you do, feel free to bring that shit and SHARE.
thats all I can think of for now…gotta spread fliers for this shit! Serious Business underway…
Kenny, Cause 3rd strike is the shiznite!!! (Wow, I should not use that vocab!)
If you go…
…and you go…
…then, I might go! That’s more than enough people to play!
Oh wow, You read my mind! Jim, Give me a call or I’ll call you Thursday night. Thursday is my brother’s B-Day so we’re taking him out because he’s turning 21!
- Do we have to pay to play by the hour? Entry fee? Or how does that work?
- Should/Can I bring a Tv and PS2?
Again, I’m never reliable so I’ll have to play this one by ear. I hope I can make it.
kenny said there’s a 3 buck charge for the night. which is reasonable considering nickels is 2 but you don’t have to buy nickels.
i might go this friday
where is algonquin, exactly?
Jose: The fee is merely an entry fee, it’s a dollar less than it is to use their computers to go online (which is, in fact, hourly)…so no, not by the hour. That would be retarded anyways. If you want to bring your PS2 and TV, that would be cool…the more the merrier, since we have 2 TV’s and PS2’s at the moment. If you have an RF cable for the dreamcast, bring that too, I can’t seem to find mine…but if your TV is A/V hookup, then don’t worry about it. but I AM bringing my Dreamcast to this as well, can’t ignore the Marvel Scene.
Yosh: Algonquin is Route 62…you’re basically getting on that and heading WEST…thats really all you need to know. the place will be on your right in a shopping plaza (look for the Butera Sign…turn in there) and just look for the shop with “INTERNET CAFE” for it’s sign. For even more landmarks, there is a Jewel Osco across the street, and when you see the intersection for Route 25, you know you’re ALMOST there.
