Alex Vids

Can’t forget Urien, either.

Ty, how much of a skill difference are you saying between NorCal and SoCal?

is it really hard win with ALEX in Ranbats or tournements?

at ffa it is. All you get to play is Chun, Ken and Yun and Urien there. The Kens don’t bug much but the rest of em do.

John D and Vic said it themselves and they don’t even use Alex. they said something along the lines of if an alex player wins something its because he’s actually really good. Or something. Listen to podcast 6 part 1.

on your question duralaugh i got 4th at norcal BEFORE i was hitting top 8 at ranbats… so even after i got better i still could not hit 4th at ffa ranbats. norcal aint bad they just dont have as many top tier players.

:amazed:

Fuck, it’s been a year since that? memories ;_;

Isn’t it safe to say though that SAII is even worse for twevle. I can never seem to land it or SAI.

At least with XCOPY you get a power bonus. Just know the character your mimicking. :arazz:

wait til that shit runs out >.>

Here are a couple vids from C3, got some good wins and some upsets as well but Alex is no easy low forward super character. Felt good about my overall preformance. Got absent minded about how to rape against Flares Ryu but I got him good after the tournament in the hotel room the few sets we played.

Not all of my matches at the tournament were recorded but I thank Jibbo and Knuckledust for what they got.

Was up almost by a perfect and got hit with a dart-shot and then did not cancel standing strong when he jumped in on me for the win. I was pissed!

I watched one video and have only thing to say, Jesus christ that chun really fucking sucks.

Nah he’s actually really good. The couple times he came to C3 he’s always made top 5 at least and back then 3rd Strike wasn’t even his main game. He just got flustered against that new stuff Saisyu was doing. He didn’t know how to handle stomps at all. All that top tier using in tourneys gets people flustered when they finally have to fight that new stuff. Which is not surprising cuz you don’t see much Alex in tourneys any ways. Hell…in that very same tournament I lost to 2 Akuma players. I was able to beat anyone I had to play who used YCK (including people that shut out regular top placers in our tourneys). Sometimes you have to rally harder against what you don’t completely understand than against someone who’s just really good with what works.

Smooth should have just option parried the stomps instead of trying to play it safe and getting crossed up all day. Actually it wasn’t really that safe once he started throwing the EX SBK’s. He obviously had no idea that EX SBK does nothing to stop stomps. EX lightning legs probably would have done a bit better. Best option would have been to just keep jumping straight up with Alex and knocking him out with straight up HK. Which it worked the 1 or 2 times he tried to do it but he didn’t keep doing it. Jump straight up is probably the best way to beat stomps outside of just option parrying them down. If you can parry them well it makes them more risky for the Alex player.

Saisyu just did a good job utilizing one of the few things that Chun has some immediate trouble dealing with against Alex. He rallied what worked against a character that otherwise can easily shut Alex out. The s.HK to beat out Chun’s c.HK was pretty awesome I’ll say that.

Chun is my most favorite fight and the one I study the most. So much shit to punish, so little time.

Ninja Edit: Thank you Devil Jin for your comments. Your always out there telling that truth. Best Ibuki on the east cost. Period!

Can’t wait to take another shot at epsilon! I owe him a EX Knee! haha!

You’re speaking volumes about east coast talent or you’re just being nice to smooth. That was some horrible, horrible play that no solid player would ever show.

The Stomp mix up is new now? Smooth just kept getting impatient is all it was. Saisyu was on the opposite side of the screen as much as smooth was, and smooth had chun.

I’ll try and watch a few more in a bit, got a project I need to finish.

You know how long I’ve been waiting for this video now?

lol why have the name of a worthless super?

Must see those SAIII videos.

Hurry your progress :frowning:

Played gootecks, dudes Urien is grad-school nasty!

Was running out of juice by the last match. Hard fights just like I like them. Hopefully I will get to try my new reasearch against Combofeinds Oro next time, got owned pretty bad but that was the first time I ever faced an Oro in serious play. So I know now what to do, and combo is too dam good.:lovin:

First video:

  • Stun Gun against Akuma is not exactly a good option. You need more EX meter against Akuma since things like EX Flash do major damage against him.
  • Sweep just never feels like a good option to open up a match, man. Just FYI.
  • Already, you’re using The Boot. While I’ve always liked hitting this move (and you hit it once already), where you’re placing it makes me think you’re guessing in a bad way.
  • 0:18, you can punish a blocked Tatsumaki with something better than jab.
  • 0:23, no need to stand right over Akuma, or any character for that matter. You’re asking for a reversal at that point (and knowing that this Akuma probably doesn’t know the match-up, he’ll more than likely wake-up something).
  • That entire first round, it felt like you were more than willing to just hit buttons and slug with Akuma. While in some cases, this may work in your favor, it causes bad habits. Dive was good as an escape a few times, but unless you can see your opponent in the air with you, I don’t see a practical use to approach with The Dive.
  • In the start of the second and third rounds, you open up with a shoulder and a knee smash. Are you hunting for your opponent to take initiative from the get go?
  • Second and third rounds, good shite with catching slash elbow into Stun Gun, but you’re still better off using Boomerang.
  • I see no use of s.fierce as overhead, but that’s alright, knowing the Akuma player was gonna press buttons on wake-up and sometimes get SRK.

Initially, I just felt like you were gonna go in, balls deep, hit buttons, and pray for a good outcome. Clean up the execution, though. Alex’s regular slashes don’t combo off of any of his normals (you need to do EX, and you only get combos off of s.forward and s.strong).

thanks for the advice i usually stick to stun gun becuase its the least risky of the 3 supers & most people don’t realize how to get away from it. once my execution becomes better i’ll switch over to boomerang (DP’s dont exactly click for me in this version of SF) but i’ll keep all of this in mind thanks a bunch
