It can stuff some normals, an example is Nash cr.mk, our St.mk goes over it and stuffs it completely.
I just use it to stuff jumps once I pushed people out with c. Mp
Only asking cause Iâm at work, but anyone get to try and see if OS is possible with Alex?
Apprently works with Gief too. Dunno if Alex can do the same since he can cancel normals into sledgehammer/party. feel like that might make it impossible?
IDK if this has been posted or found already, but I got a neat âunblockableâ working with Alex.
Call it ghetto because there are things chars can do to get out of it and be safe, but Alex usually doesnât get punished. Works at any spacing. Works best on Karin and characters w/o reversals. Still useful on a large portion of the cast because it forces them to burn meter to escape or eat 80 free damage into a mixup.
Might be able to get another meaty unblockable setup in other situations, but I havenât done testing.
Ryu: DP whiffs, Super whiffs (both unpunishable)
Chun: EX.SBK beats, Super whiffs (punishable)
Ken: same as ryu
Cammy: DP whiffs (unpunishable), lk.super beats
Vega: forced to eat it
Necalli: same as Ryu/Ken
Laura: forced to eat it
Zangief: super beats, forced to eat otherwise
Karin: Forced to eat it- all reversals punishable
Nash: super whiffs (unpunishable) - forgot to test vtrigger
Bison: super beats, forced to eat otherwise
Birdie: super whiffs (forget if punishable)
Dhalsim: teleport out, super whiffs (unpunishable)
Rashid: ex.dp whiffs (unpunishable), super beats
Mika: forced to eat it
Fang: ex.duck escapes, super whiffs (punishable)
Alex: Forced to eat it
Guile: ex.flashkick whiffs, super whiffs (forget if punishable)
Balrog: super beats
Ibuki: ex.dp & super whiff (unpunishable)
Juri: ex.dp whiffs (punishable), super beats
Urien: unknown (super probably beats)
Here are some setplay options after each stomp(They all beat 3fs):
LK(lk, mp,f.hp)
MK(f.hp,f.hp)
HK(f.hp,f.hp)
EX(lp,mp,f.hp)
Iâll remake the OP to this thread when season 2 drops. Pretty sure some of the original tech I found was just a one hour training job anyway, S2 changes will most likely make half of the information invalid.
Stumbled across this today while perusing the youtube. Some pretty cool setups here. Apparently all of these setups beat 3fs and non ex dps.
Those are kind of terrible. Way too long to react to and youâre giving up a ton of damage by not finishing a Lariat CC combo.
If youâre gonna cancel your cr.HP with V-trigger anyways, you might as well just juggle with meterless knee drop instead of this. Get that +4 close range oki AND get more damage than this setup.
I agree that there are other options, but it has some use. Itâs like bait on a hook⌠it looks like you messed up, and the opponent canât help but want to punish you. And your options beat all of theirs outside of invincible moves.
Hereâs donpachi using it against the #9 ranked player who falls for it, gets CCâd, and loses the round.

Itâs CLEARLY situational, and a little risky, but youâre not actually giving up that much damageâŚ
Hi, first time on this thread. Iâm refusing to drop Alex, but itâs hard.
One of my main tools was the low mk, to bait a low block and get into with a stomp, but now, with the l.mk nerfed itâs pretty useless. Itâs harder to get into, and a defensive steamroller strategy (blocking and getting close slowly) is hard because of the white damage.
I might need something more to make this character a bit useful.
My BnB is s.mp into chop, s.hk into power bomb or lariat vtrigger s.hp vtrigger and supplex or CA.
Should add a m. Slash after trigger or even better, jab jab l.slash for more dmg
I usually do lariat mp headbutt or stomp if they block the lariat and the frame trap
Does anyone know the frame data for a forward dash post-Powah Bomb? This is killinâ me here.

Wow, that blows.
Itâs ok, no one else gets anything from their command grab, right?
Only Bison and only if it´s on a Tuesday xD
Bison doesnât-- oh, nevermind.
Since Alex got a firefighter costume, hereâs a vid of Alex extinguishing Dhalsimâs flames:
I havenât seen anyone post this so thought Iâd shareâŚIâve seen Sim get thrown out of his CA before. I think it was in a Gunfight vs YHC Mochi match but I was never able to do it but after some time in the lab, I finally learned the timing: You start doing your throw/command input when the cinematic focuses in on Simâs full belly. Try it out guysâŚno more wakeup CA for Sim! Matchup is still 7-3 Iâm afraid lol
Okay so I was messing around in training and found some new stuffâŚnothing ground breaking but itâs always good for new setups that might surprise your opponent. We all know Alexâs two main follow ups after powerbomb are st hk and lk elbowâŚhereâs a setup if they do a delay wakeup. Just dash forward into meaty mp or powerbomb. Pretty easy to do and remember. Also I feel like Alex doesnât get enough damage after cr HPâŚsure we get a lp flash chop followup but thatâs nothing compared to what Urien gets and he doesnât even need to use meter. We can do ex knee but our anti air game is weak so I like to save meter for that and ex chop just hits the opponent away. So instead of lp flashchop, I started experimenting w/ mp flashchop after cr hp. The mp flashchop will whiff but it sets you up for a powerbomb or meaty mp. You can also use lk elbow after cr hp for the same setup and even cross up your opponent at the wall. I tried to cover all wake up options in the video:
Not guaranteed damage but SFV isnât called guess fighter V for no reason lol. Hopefully this helps guys
