Alex General Discussion: "At ease, loo-suh!" The Alex SFV Thread

Real talk tho: gill in sfv would be awesome if his vskill switched his form from fire to ice. He could be really fun.

V-Trigger would be “My heavy normals are now faster than your lights. Have fun”

on the latest episode of the BEST OF THREE podcast… John Choi couldn’t confirm or deny if the ALEX trailer would be premiered at NCR this weekend. He just stuttered then, hemmed and hawed… and stated he cant talk about that while laughing.

Because he’s being released this Friday! RIGHT?!?

I think one of the weird things about the expectations was that it did not make sense for them to release Alex right after Final Round anyway. We thought they would wait to avoid changing too much 1 week before a major. If we believe that then why would we expect them to do the same thing 1 week before NCR.

But the point is that the only things they really need to do is add Alex and unlock the Challenges/Shop/8 Player Lobbies.
If the Major is the problem, ban Alex as he’s only been out for 3 days.
Or, and this is a radical idea here, Capcom could just be up front and give us some concrete info.
The last thing we received were the screenshots. Wasn’t that 2 weeks ago? I haven’t heard anything in the mean time other than Rashid’s them, which cool as it may be, does not match up.

Technically the NCR folks can be notified and just not hook up the game online so the patch won’t apply right?

just my belief but Alex will probably come with the store and balance change patch. Capcom may have wanted to wait until after a CPT tourney (NCR) to implement those changes rather than to releasing 2 separate patches or influence the outcome of a per-determined tournament with last minute changes to the game.

And that would reasonable. However they could have said that weeks ago were it the case and people wouldn’t be so salty about lack of communication.

And we are salty Capcom.

This kind of thing is an issue that shows up with MOBAs where pros are playing meta that is suddenly changed by a patch basically having a hard restart close to an event. League plays competitive matches on a special client that lets them play on old patches but it creates dissonance between what they can practice and what they play matches in.

It’s weird. People speculate the balance changes that are supposed to be a part of the Alex patch will change certain Option Selects. The jump frames are changing, will it change that wake up tech Tokido abused, who knows. Point is, Alex isn’t coming alone.

You’re doing the lord’s work son.

but isn’t Ono just like Ed Boon…
they live for trolling their diehard fan base. THEY know everyone is waiting for ALEX so because of the previous leaks including Laura…they are going to milk this. LOL

What balance patch? Nothing needs balancing right now and if any thing gets “Balanced” then Capcom are even more retarded than I was previously giving them credit for.
Things we should get from the patch -
8 man lobbies
Shop
Challenges
Alex

Anything else (Other than some fix for the online but I doubt that’ll happen) doesn’t need to be added in this patch. Hell, if Capcom are smart they won’t balance at all until at least 6 months/all characters are revealed unless something truly game breaking comes out.

Balance patch… Pssh.

I believe he means the universal (minus Gief) changes to jump frames to combat option selects, and the elimination of a Chun li option select.

Balance changes isn’t the right word, more like bug fixes, but eliminating (or combatting) option selects and changing jumping frame data could have adverse effects on a tourney if it happened immediately before.

not balance but it remove option selects and changes jump frames. removes some known bugs

Ah sorry. I’ve played so many games where people are calling for balancing and shit before people even know how to play the game correctly and it raises my blood pressure every time.
I agree, those need fixing but I wouldn’t class those fixes as balance.

At this point, I’m kind of hoping that Alex is in a hilariously unfinished state, and that Capcom has been trying to cover it all up in the most miserable way possible. Constantly dodging questions and avoiding releasing any information, while also falsely building up hype and antagonizing the fanbase… just for one huge disappointment.

I mean, reasonably speaking, they could have just come at the beginning of the month, say “Hey, guys, we know you love SFV, and we love SFV too, but right now there are some pipeline delays getting in the way, and we might have to set Alex back a few weeks. We’ll keep you up to date as the situation progresses, but until then, we thank you for your understanding, and hope that your enthusiasm for this great game and community continues.” But at this point, having everything go wrong and watching it all go down in flames would be too cathartic to pass up.

Y’know, he was pretty much an “incomplete” character in 3rd Strike, so hey, being incomplete in SFV; we Alex mains will be right at home!

Especially since SFV itself is incomplete. How appropriate
