Not expecting capcom to change their schedule to fit what my mind thinks is the right time for the trailer and release date announcement…but I think they should adapt to their reception. SFV got shit reviews and is selling real bad and I think they’re building up more indifference than they are hype…
They are the most stubborn company and have reaped what they’ve sown.
The strength of Capcom’s proposed business model for this game is that the “boxed” game is still valuable for a LONG time after the launch of the game (since all gameplay adjustments are free, and the one retail game is all you need, it will continue to sell for years). By constantly releasing more content they can draw more sales in, but if they don’t heavily advertise those additions, then no-one that doesn’t already have the game is gonna know or care about them.
If they wanna push the sales of the game so that it can recoup those losses and keep a long tail, they need to have some awesome advertising out there on each new character and mode going forward for sure.
But honestly, if we don’t get an Alex trailer at Final Round, then I don’t expect that we’ll get one at all. Which wouldn’t bode well for how much Capcom may be scrambling to deal with this situation internally. The good news for SF players is that Sony is heavily invested, and is going to want to keep this game on their system to compete with Microsoft.
At this point though I’m suspecting a change to Capcom’s content delivery strategy, next year, when the major balance patch releases and they announce the next 6 characters, they will probably change the name (to Super Street Fighter V or something) and release a new box that is just the same game but includes the first 6 DLC characters for free, or better yet, comes with 500,000 fight money to catch you up. Everyone who bought the game year 1 wouldn’t have to buy that game, their game would update automatically, but it would be a chance to bring in new players by saying “Hey, we fixed it!” And they could get brand new, glowing reviews from everyone without actually changing their plans or screwing their players.
Alternatively we could see a large scale advertising campaign this June that showcases the story mode, arcade mode, challenges etc. and is all like “HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER” and has Alex, Balrog, Guile, and whoever the next character is in it (who at that point won’t be released right? Don’t remember the schedule.)
I just hope the poor sales haven’t pulled the carpet out from underneath them as far as properly advertising and supporting the game during this first year. With EVO and the Capcom pro tour being so big, I think it still has the chance to do very well this year.

Well, they told that they’ll release this patch on march, so they aren’t wrong, in fact, we are building more hype than we should for him and making some predictions when they’ll release a trailer or the character.
if they are gonna release a trailer it’ll probably be at the finals day, not the first day of final round

Eh, this wait is creating anti-hype IMO. I mean I really look forward to alex but the wait has been so long and the online is so flawed that I’m starting to feel like I’ll be excited for the first 2 days I get to play him, and then it’ll go back to being dull. The screenshots quenched my thirst a bit but I believe a gameplay trailer of him for us to savor and dissect is long overdue.
