yeah…but if your facing just a basic everyday online yun, if you apply the setups from the other threads, yun is Semi-Manageable…its when you get to that upper echelon of play…ala EVO level…Yun becomes a true nuisance to not only akuma, but alot of other characters…I use akuma for every matchup…even Yun…If i lose to one…fuck it…theyll patch it eventually.
Holy fuck, Tokido vs Yun was painful to watch, especially because Tokido was raping everybody he met untill that match.
Anybody still expecting anti-Yun technology to arise before the patch? Similar to how the Akuma vs Cammy changed?
To be honest though, even though Tokido is just plain better than Infiltration, I feel like Infiltration is much better at controlling Yun’s dive kicks with his normals. I also saw Tokido sweeping too much at medium/sweep range. Daigo read them like a book and did instant divekicks to punish them hard. Akuma users can be quite greedy to land a sweep…
Anyway, we really need an anti-yun research lab my or something
- Unblockable setups
- DF DK crossups
- Reversal stuffers
- anti dive kick normals
-etc.
We gotta learn to make that knockdown count.
The problem with Yun is that you have to be willing to use shennanigans, which Tokido is not so fond of doing. Infiltration is much more aggressive in this sense where he uses strong fundamentals but isn’t averse to using JR type gimmicks every now and then which can often put doubts in his opponents mind about how to aproach him.
Man, I do wish that after this fiasco that was EVO 2K11, Capcom finally does decide to patch the twins up because it’s just senseless how good they are.
I actually don’t want a patch. I’m tired of a new version of this game every single year.
Lol,this game needs a small patch. Want it or not. and…a few hours after my post…yoshiro ono announces a patch…how fun…
I just hope they won’t do a retarded thing such as nerf more characters along with the twin bastards (specially doing something stupid to Akuma), but it’s Capcom afterall so you never you know.
Man…Im with you. ID rather them just buff people up to the twins level…give ryu some of his shit back, give cammy her shit back, Make dudley stronger (Dudley is garbage, and should be a top tier char IMO,) Dont nerf anyone at all BESIDES the twins,in my opinion.
I’m tilting so hard every time I go into training mode vs Yun and sees his 1000 stun points. He should have 850 and even then he is still god tier but that I could handle.
I was right that the average Yun wouldn’t blow anyone up any time soon. I waxed two of them in pools and saw a dozen more go two and out. It takes a ton of skill to play him rifht
I wouldnt say A TON…lol but average yuns will get beasted by players who are better.
Akuma needs his vanilla damage/stun back. That would really help. Also a slight health nerf and stun nerf on yun would make it more fair rather than a straight up assbeating tokido experienced.
Yet no Yun in top 4 and “only” 2 Yuns in top 8 (Daigo and Kindevu btw, not some random dudes fyi).
Like my sig. says, the only thing that should be patched are people crying for a patch. This game is pretty offensive oriented and there are a least 10 characters that are able to compete at the maximum levels. That’s more than enough for me.
To the other guys, keep dreaming of a fighter where everyone is viable, lol, especially with a cast if 39.
I agree. It’s definitely not as BAD as we all thought it was at first glance. It’s still retarded how GOOD he (and Yang) can be with just a little effort against Akuma and the fact that he doesn’t really have to worry about our wake-up game.
I don’t see what that has to do with anything? Just because a character is good (O/P??) doesn’t mean anyone wielding him will take top honors every time. After all, they nerfed Sagat after Vanilla, not because people playing him were winning every tournament, but because he was just no fun to play against since you had to have a perfect game to beat him while he could make a gazillion mistakes and still win a match.
Same with Yun and Yang. Yes it takes skill to play them well, but really, even with a little skill, they can still plow through most characters in the roster without too much difficulty.
People don’t realise, that you could have been playing a friend consistently and owned his ass everytime. But now he picks Yun and spent like 2 weeks in the lab with him and you have to grind like a fucking monster to get a win. Yun is so easy mode its unreal. My Yun is like 2 days worth of practice. I just went into Training Mode and learnt his BnB’s which are so braindead the timing for them is so stupidly easy. They are low risk / high reward, make him high risk / high reward and I’ll be happy.
So does Akuma. It’s not like we’re playing Hakan or Vega, you know. Akuma “plows” through a very vast majority of the cast even after getting his damage/stun nerfed from Vanilla. Should he also get some more nerfs? People are saying that his palm is too good like you’re saying that Yun’s ex lunge is too good. Should palm be negative frames on whiff and on block? Yeah, I’m sure you know the answer.
Akuma has a really bad matchup v yun, ok…so what? man up and accept that you’ll have to put in way more effort to win or just counterpick. It’s perfectly fine.
Ono already announced the patch btw, so this is just some unnecessary talk. As it’s ALWAYS happened with this game, whiners got what they wanted and we’ll probably have another boring game again.
B U L L S H I T. You just don’t know what you’re talking about.
I’m still winning vs the people I was winning against before they used Yun, and I’m still losing to the very same people that used to beat me even if I’m using Yun.
Your statement is only correct at a really low level of play. If you’re losing to random Yuns, then Yun is not the problem, trust me.
I never said I lost to these people, I just said you have to work so much harder to get that win thanks to Yun’s never ending pressure and easy ways t oget in.
And people have to work so much harder against Akuma when they get knocked down because of his never ending mostly safe wakeup pressure.
Besides, when playing random Yuns, just mash shoryuken, they’re usually not smart enough to bait it. Also, neutral jump during their strings because all they can do to open you up are command throws.
Now, when playing a good Yun things get worse, but he’s by no means easy as people pretend. Akuma has an ugly matchup against him, we gotta live with it, there are 39 characters in this game and only one of them can convincingly beat akuma. I guess that’s good enough and other characters got it far worse.
… “mostly safe”? Now I know you’re joking!
Again, I don’t think Yun is half as bad as many thought he’d be, unless you go against someone that’s decent. But then, you can say the same about ANY character in the game, right? I don’t necessarily want Capcom to nerf him completely, but at least make some adjustments to some of his more ridiculous features so that the match is more 5.5/4.5 or 6/4 rather than 7/3 as it is right now (and I’m talking about skill against skill, not scrub against “ok”).
As for your comment about other characters, I think it’s not fair as well. There should never be a character in a game like Street Fighter that has a “BAD” matchup. A difficult matchup? Sure… But one where you start off with the notion that there’s almost NOTHING you can do unless your opponent is abysmally stupid? That’s just awful management on the developer’s part and it should be fixed.
If they’re smart about how they go about fixing the twins, there’s no reason why the game would become boring.
