Akuma Set-up Thread: AE 2012 Specific

Well djKun did say he was just beginning to use Akuma… So I thought I’d clarify for him.

Like I said, I’ve been using this in my recent games against Fei players. It is nasty and it leads to massive damage if Fei doesn’t block correctly.

Testing your unconfirmed stuff list gamogo:

VS: Sakura, Ken, Sagat:

  • F.throw > dash x2 > mk DFK (Stuffs dp) *** Stuffs Sagat’s dp (makes his ex whiff). Stuffs Sakura’s as they dont have invincibility (makes her ex whiff). Ken’s lp dp trades, mp dp gets stuffed, fp dp whiffs, ex dp beats DFK.
  • F.throw in corner > backdash > hk DFK (Fake cross-up against Sakura) *** hk DFK whiffs if she tries to block.

VS: Sakura, Fei, Makoto, Rufus, Ibuki, Yang, Yun, Akuma:

  • F.throw in corner > dash x2 > j.hk (Fake cross-up) *** Whiffs if Sakura, Ibuki, Makoto try to block. Confirmed vs Fei, Yang, Rufus. Whiffs if Akuma and Yun try to block it crossup.

VS: Ryu:

  • F.throw > dash x2 > cross-up tatsu (Snuffs DPs) *** only delayed srk beats the tatsu.
  • F.throw > dash x1 > small step > hk DFK > late dive kick (Stuffs mp and hp DPs) *** stuff lp and fp srk. Makes mp and ex srk whiff.

VS: Yun:

F.throw > fs.hk whiff > hk DFK (delayed) (Beats lk, mk, hk, ex dp) *** Confirmed

VS: Ibuki:

F.throw in corner > dash x1 > c.mp > j.mk (Unblockable) *** Confirmed

VS: Viper:

F.throw in corner > dash x1 > cs.mp > j.mk (Unblockable - consistency problems) *** Couldnt get it once, BUT!!! throw, overhead (6mp), j.mk - Unblockable.

Guys you gotta be very specific with divekick timings, it’s pretty pointless otherwise.

The timing on that is really wierd. The first time I attempted it, I got it no problem, but I’ve been having problems ever since. It’s just dashx2 as soon as you can and then jumping roundhouse. I keep jumping behind Fei though.

I had problems like that with a few corner setups. Try switching sides a few times… I know its weird

as the fake crossup mixups, were there always this many or was the throw nerf actually a buff? Any thoughts on the Bison setup I mentioned? It seems pretty solid

I don’t know if it was said, but I tested our classic imblocable (throw > dash > cr.LK > jump MK) works on: Ryu/Ken/Makoto/E.Ryu, and works as a fake crossup vs: Gouki, Dan, Chunli, Blanka. :wink:

Spent last night trying to find something against DJ off forward throw… So far only dash x 2, HK DF Palm whiff causes reversal LK, MK, HK upkicks to whiff (EX catches palm). Reversal Super/Ultra get blocked.

I only spent about 30 minutes on the above setup as I tried plenty of other options after forward throw, none of them are as “good” as the above setup for catching nearly every DJ reversal option on wakeup.

But yeah… If someone wants to confirm these, please do so because I’m too upset to keep trying. Fucking EX upkicks man… Everything I tried gets stuffed by them! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! :mad:

Press the HK sooner. If you whiff you are pressing it too late.

Yea dash x2 was a fake cross up back in AE so it makes sense.

Ok against Yang dash x 2 is a fake cross up and it seems like j.LK is a true cross up.

Going to test it more in the morning. I would imagine it also works against Yun.

Yeah it’s kinda tough with dive kicks… Maybe something like:

  • Apex: first possible frame
  • Slightly delayed: right after the peak
  • Delayed: mid air
  • Ultra delayed: last possible moment

Or something like that lol, without vid it gets tricky because you enter the lab and are like “damn this isn’t working for me” :E

Fake crossup with j.MK or j.HK Loyal?

Probably J. MK because it’s tough to use J. HK on the twins.

Nah j.HK. Just press the button a little early than you would for the other jump ins.

Well if you forward throw dashX2 J.MK you can get a fake crossup that lands behind them by trying to hit them in the head. If you delay the kick to get them shoulders and below it’s a normal crossup.

It’s pretty good because it’s the same setup with no real distinction between the kicks. All you do is hit early or late and you get a different block.

So four good options to keep the former tyrants throughly screwed up. I like it.

Your setup (dash > dash > HK) works vs Gief too for fake crossup + it breaks KKK lariat reversal and is safe from PPP lariat reversal :slight_smile:
