Yep every single char with a >3 fr reversal can be safe jumped after sweep or f.throw.
The problem is to come close and jump with that perfect timing required by our weak active frames.
Manual timing is the last thing you want unless for some reason you already have it recorded in your brain and do it 70% in matches, at least.
2 frames earlier or later mean fail.
We’ll see how it goes in some weeks.
I tryed to play against Blanka reversal, tried pure walk forward from f.throw. I tried dash and different walk timing either.
I’m not recording Akuma. I use a tool that play Blanka and reversal ex ball every time I f.throw and even block as he land so I can train to time my punish.
I can tell you there’s solutions for sure, but it’s quite random for the moment. Doing the same manual setup 2 times in a row is very hard.
Well day 1 of training, I’m not Desk.
It’s honestly not that difficult to memorize the timing of. It takes time sure, but after you work on one character (use visual cues as well) long enough, eventually it will end up in muscle memory just like links. After only a day I can jump in on Sagat almost 90% of the time now with the correct timing. Once you get the timing down on whatever character you’ve been practicing on, you won’t really even need to bother looking at where they are in relation to you before you jump and can then apply it to the other characters.
As I said though, these aren’t necessarily your best option for all of the characters. I’d probably just use palms/throws against Juri, Abel, Cody, Balrog and Rufus or just double dash on Sakura. It’s just nice to have another option against characters like Sagat besides stuffing uppercuts that don’t lead to combos, or simple empty jumps.
I’m not sure if I’d bother trying it at all on him actually. You can apply vortex pressure on Zangief, but why would you want to? It’s not worth the risk in general (or at least it’s not to me). For those who need whiff timing, just do a standing jab before going into the flip. This works on: Guile, Fei, Balrog, Sagat, Gouken and Akuma. Problem with whiffing though is that it allows Guile to do his hopping short to avoid it, and Fei, Akuma and Gouken can just do a move that lowers their hitbox. Still, it’s just like most setups. There’s usually a way out of them.
Anyone want a demo on how to correctly safe jump most of the non 3fr reversals? It’s much easier compared to doing it after a throw.
I just improved my dummy macro so I can train f.thow and sweep setups on an “active dummy” without having to reset the “forward” and “backward” for the dummy. Meaning I can jump over him at will he’ll always do is moves on the right side. Pretty hard for a macro to do that usually…
Before I found how to do that automatic, I had to set the forward/backward for the dummy manually before I throw him.
If you want to set this up for you, PM me.
Main advantages :
No friends ? or No friends stupid enough to mash a reversal for you for 2 hours long ? No problem
No more record, train as Akuma.
Really train your timings with instant result as opposed to record method.
Make the dummy do whatever reversal you want.
The main program is 5sec install, there’s prety much no User interface. You only launch text script from anywhere on your HDD by doubleclick.
1 script per dummy reversal/action though.
Need 12years old reading skills to edit a script.
If you can count eight frames exactly, that’s pretty impressive. Doing that would be on par to learning the timings after a throw, which while not impossible or impractical, isn’t as easy as doing it after a sweep another way.
Huhu I can’t count frames.
I said 8 like I could have said 10, 7 or 15, but you get the picture, the universal old sweep slight step jump…
It’s not that hard, but a huge part of it success imho is when you don’t OS and you block a reversal. You look like you’re da boss but if you had OSed you’d eat that SRK ^^. It’s pretty hard to really do it meaty with OS that block on reversal and come out on backdashes.
But at least you look agressive and force a defensive answer. So who cares if we often are too early and miss the meaty by 1 or 2 frame, as far as we don’t OS we’re safe If you get thrown, the guy doesn’t respect you…
I was talking about your “stand 8 frames” comment, as though you know exactly when that is. Small step isn’t reliable on 4fr reversals either, that’s more for Cammy and Sagat. It’s more like as soon as you see that Akuma actually moved forward at all (it’s less than a small cube’s distance).
Crossup dive kick timings:
Sagat: after BnB just do a st. lp, then instant dive.
Sagat: after DFT, st. mp, then instant dive.
Honda: after DFT, jump straight up, then instant dive.
Sakura: after DFT, jump straight up, then instant dive. Can be beaten by very delayed cr. fierce. Flies over ultras.
Juri: after DFT, jump straight up, then instant dive. Can be beaten by EX pinwheel (single hit).
cr.lp>cr.lp>cr.mp>ex fb, walk forward a bit and do HK DF throw. makes all reversal dps whiff. done by tokido and mentioned in twitch chat by solidsnakemgs4
So I found a fun little gimmick with Akuma. If you fadc st.fierce after lk. tatsu in the corner you’ll dash through the opponent. Never seen it done before.
It’s actually a glitch we found back in Vanilla. Though you don’t see it as readily because LP.DP > FADC > Shaku is no longer worth it so you don’t get it by accident very often any more.
