Even if it does it’s because the hitbox of the first few active frames don’t reach you.
Anyway that setup (dash +cr.jab) only has a total of 29 frames (18+11), the opponent isn’t even up yet and you’ll be required to do some manual timing to complete the rest of the setup if you’ve done the dash and cr.jab as fast as possible.
IMO people should aim for setups that don’t require manual timing because it’ll be confusing and people could get different results depending on how they timed the setup even though their execution was on point. I think it would help to share setups that have at least a total of 33f vs characters that wakeup normally, at least that way we’ll be sure that even if the setup was done as fast as possible it will Not whiff.
Wow, still? This worked in AE/Super and I assumed the +2f delay may have negated it. Whats funny is that I intentionally passed up on this setup during some matches last night. Guess I could have used it after all - nice
Are you sure that the Viper unblockable works? cant get it to hit, not even once. Can anyone confirm that?
also, throw, dash, cs.mp, j.mk - unblockable on Guile.
more editz: throw, dash, cr.mp j.rh/ m or h DF palm is safe jump on Guile!! (probably 4f safe jump in general)
and more editz: I used the exact same recording vs Guy and he can hit me with ex tatsu oO strange shit
I don’t know about demon flips, but forward throw > x1 dash > whiff cr.mp > j.mk or hk should be able to safejump 4 frame reversals if done as fast as possible. It’s useful in the corner (I used to do the same setup with close st.mp which has 17 total frames, cr.mp has 15 so it’s the perfect replacement to makeup for the added recovery frames).
No idea in 2012. I guess we all need to tinker with this. In AE I used to just plain do it normally. No special timing. F.throw > fs.hk > hk flip dive kick > combo.
Well unless Guy wakes up a frame earlier it isnt safe jump against him.
@dr4gz0r, the setup to beat srks also works on Guile. If you are familiar with it, its the same delay on the df kick. You slightly delay. Try doing it vs Ryu without any guard and you will see a strange hit animation of the df kick kinda as if it hit really meaty although it actually doesnt. Will help you get the timing down
You mean the dash, whiff cr.mp instant j.mk? Because if it’s done frame perfectly I’m pretty sure it’ll work, it’s pretty useless midscreen though since it doesn’t lead to any mixups. I’ll check the setup later just to be sure and report the results back.
Well if you read my post above you will understand :P. I wrote that same setup as a safe jump against Guile but not Guy. Using hk df palm instead of j.rh opens up more mixup option.
I tried doing Vipers throw, dash dash, j.fp which is 4f safe jump and worked both on Guy and Guile. So either flashkick got a stealth nerf, or Guile wakes up a frame later, or random stuff are random
Exploding heart (**fwd throw, dash, dash, MK divekick, **see characters for divekick timing) on:
Cammy: works exactly as Super and AE, it will stuff every non EX Cannon Spike. EX trades (Cammy does 95 damage, Akuma 70). Divekick can be done delayed to ultra delayed, apex doesn’t work
Fei Long: will stuff every non EX Flame Kick. EX trades (Fei does 50, Akuma 70). Divekick must be done apex, anything else will trade or get beaten
Yun: pretty tricky. Done apex, will stuff LK, MK, EX Reversal Upkicks, HK will trade. If delayed, LK and MK still get stuffed, HK will whiff or trade, EX will beat divekick clean. Done midair will stuff every non EX Upkick (beats it clean); if he delays them, HK trades and EX still wins (1 hit only there), LK and MK still get stuffed. Never do it ultra delayed, Yun seems to always win.
Midscreen fwd throw, st.HK, HK DF Palm (late), on:
Cammy: her Reversal Cannon Spikes get autocorrected and you block it, same if she delays it
Fei Long: his Reversal Flame Kick whiff if reversaled, you block them if he delays it
Ryu: Reversal MP, HP, EX DP whiff, LP DP will beat it clean (allowing for easy juggle into Ultra, even Super into Ultra). If delayed, Ryu just beats Akuma clean
Yun: Reversal Upkicks will whiff, if he delayes them all gets blocked except for EX Upkicks, which will beat Akuma. Note: thanks to the wonderful SF4 inputs, Upkick may turn into command grabs, so be careful
I suspect that exploding heart recipe will be ripe for Ken too. Also note that VS Yun:
“F.throw > fs.hk whiff > hk DFK (delayed) (Beats lk, mk, hk, ex dp)”
Has been reported to cover all bases. I’d like to see this confirmed as I had a tinker with it using the PC patch a while back. I couldn’t beat EX, but everything else from Yun was either stuffed or whiffed.
Not really, it’s only those I bothered to try at 4 AM, sleep was literally killing me at that point lol. Will post more later, wanna try Deeeeejay’s against Viper. :]
Cool to know, at least we can switch between a couple setups to make them whiff.
A bit sad exploding doesn’t cover everything anymore, in AE it beat everything Yun did when reversal. Maybe it’s just a matter of finding the perfect timing for the divekick? I just couldn’t in 20 minute tries, if anyone cares to give it a shot.
One thing people need to expore when finding fake cross ups is to see if you can’t get it to hit as an actual cross up from the same or similar set up. Otherwise it is a worthless set up because people will see it once and know how to block it.
