What advantage does this setup have over crossup air fireball?
Found something odd with a variation of that setup.
On Sagat - DF grab > st mp> HK DF early dive kick
Safe from Tiger uppercuts, but the odd thing is that it is sometimes unblockable. Even when I record the setup that results in an unblockable, sometimes you can block it. No 1 frame block, just get to block. Sometimes you just don’t get to block.
mid screen ?
@Shin its better because it gives us more options n IMO its an easier setup with a little practiced. thing about this setup is even if u dont get perfect timing it can still work wonders sumtimes.
@Shab yes although it will work in the corner on some characters. it doesnt have to be perfect “MID-screen”
well it’s not like I really care anyway cause the only way to test it would be online, and no matter what I think, plan, input, I lose, screw the timing etc.
For exemple I did this on a sagat and whiffed completely the Dive kick behind him.
If C2Q can play online and he does very well, I should. I hope I can improve soon.
Well it is certainly easier, but I’m not sure if it gives more options or if it is better pressure. Sadly most of Akuma’s strongest options are also the most difficult to execute. X-up air fireball is difficult but very powerful once mastered.
Yes mid screen.
Honestly, the most difficult aspect about it is having to remember each character’s wakeup times. That more than anything screws with the placement. The new tech or whatever is cool and all for options (reliability), but it’s definitely not as good as using a fireball simply because it’s so obvious.
Vs Sagat & Balrog in corner after fwd throw.
Dash, Focusdash jump mk = Fake Crossup
Dont know if this works on more characters
- thats negative
- was the sagat blocking or neutral?
- Lol, ur success depends on C2Q?
Sagat was neutral I think it was the AI and it looked like I landed too early on him while he was still in wake up animation. I’ll try again today.
And no I meant I would probably have a better success with setups if I could practice em against people offline. But I have no choice where I live. It’s online or nothing. Obviously there’s something I’m missing cause some Akuma do pretty well online. Lag isn’t the universal answer for droping and screwing combos and setups and timing. I think it could be more about automatism and execution without hit confirming to avoid this online delay that make a 2frames pause become a 4 frames one.
When/how fast do you focus dash?
Ok I didn’t insta dive kick that’s why it whiffed. Well tried this DF grab setup on Cammy and she beats it clean it seems with any canon spike.
Same replay tested on Ryu and worked like intended. But can be blocked both side.
Use st mp to time and she can’t beat the setup with any spike.
Okay canon spike whiff, spiral escape it, OS tatsu punish for 1 hit, but damn hard to input this os.
ASAP, its very easy
MBR, thanks.
Try OS jump. Easier to do.
It seems I’ve become pretty rusty with a lot of the setups. I cant figure out how to do the fake crossup in the corner with j.lk anymore, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t after a knockdown.
Isn’t this jump lk like 98% a fake cross up in corner unless you reaaaaalllly want to cross up and input the lk so damn late that you hit the lower body (almost).
then maybe im doing it too late all the time lol. I dunno, corner setups like that just happen sometimes for me. Like against an adon I did a j.mk in the corner thinking it would cross up, it didn’t. Lol won me the match…
