Akuma ' Secrets' Thread

@LordofUltima

Why the PHD?

Because Ed MA (PHD) pulled it off against Valle (I think) at SBO qualifiers in Denjin. At least that’s my guess.

Because at SBO Quals Gootecks referred to Ed Ma as “PHD!” when he performed it on Alex Valle, twice.

The second demon will win at point blank, but the first demon will win at some other ranges – it’s not really a science though, makes little sense.

Urgh, sorry I still don’t quite understand the vortex… I know you want to set it up off a non techable knockdown but aside from that it just seems like a list of mix ups… all characters have that, I don’t get what makes this different. If anyone could please elaborate on this for me. I did take a look at a few threads but I still don’t get it. Is there a progression you guys use for the follow ups? Ex) start with cross up or empty jump into throw/crouching attack the first time, then maybe cross up tatsu/resets and demon flip as they learn to counter and block the first eschelon?

vortex another word for wake up mix up
a thread is already posted where they are talking about why they call it vortex
maybe someone will educated there =)

like i said its only a name for a wake up mix up game

To catch some one off guard, after :lk: tatsu…
reset with standing :hp:
to :mk: demon flip
to palm whiff
to crouching :mk:
to :lk: tatsu.

This adds some high-low into the mixup.

Well then, I’m going to start calling my Ryu wake up mix up game “The Dragon’s Shitstorm” I hope it catches on…

i dont know why so many ppl are so frustraded about the word
man who cares how its called
if its called vortx then let it be so

there are others things thats more important then to talk about why his mix up game is called vortex

^no…never I refuse to give in…I’d rathe it be Akuma’s raging cyclone of death than vortex. Seriously does mix-up not suffice?

anyways…

I don’t know if this has been posted but you can cross up air ex-tatsu on sagat (maybe others?) the shit looks really funny I don’t know if it’s worth it.

I’m calling it HOLY SHIT BATMAN atm, SO EVERYONE SHOULD CALL IT THAT!!1

Guys a great mixup here:

Okay. You do 2 cr.jabs. If it’s blocked stand up and throw. If it hits, add another cr.jab into lk.tatsu --> BnB.

I call this the Akuma exploding Heart Technique.
Can you believe some noobs call it tick throw and hit confirm? Scrubs.

You don’t realize what you’ve inadvertently done here, now I’m totally calling all tick throws the exploding heart technique. Thanks a lot. Well, maybe only forward throws, since he punches them in the heart.

Back throw can be called Spine Splitter

Hadoukens can be called purple balls of happiness.

Ironically enough I’m probably going to be working on a vortex video here soon. Wish me luck!

Purple Plasma

Been waiting forever for your next project! GO GO GO GO!

thanks

Some Japanese player has been posting vids of setups and Oki tricks for Gouki, which SF3LP was able to find some further vids of:

I’ll be looking at these to try them out and see how solid the benefits are. Bear in mind I cannot read Japanese and translation pages for the vid title and description mostly come up with useless gobbledy-gook, so I’ll just be working off assumptions of what the purpose and benefits are to be.

The first vid starts with simply following a normal throw with a pattern movement that helps you lock down your opponents escape. You start a forward throw and then immediately dash twice into an MK Demon Flip Dive Kick. The timing and positioning is set to either avoid or beat most DPs and reversals clean.

(you must do this fast though people; if you’re leisurely with the dashes into the Demon Flip and don’t go into the Dive ASAP; some things that normally whiff, lose or trade may start to trade or win)

On top of this, the Dive Kick here will also catch backdashes (and forward ones). The opponent is able to wake into a focus on the Dive Kick, but you’ll always recover quick enough to block the attack, Shoryu, throw, Ultra etc. Some opponents can get locked down by this on wakeup and forced to go into your mixups, tick strats and what-not each time.

The following characters have trouble with doing anything about this:

Sagat
Ken (all normal Shoryu’s lose, EX whiffs and lands on a punisher, but his Ultra will beat you when he has it)
Balrog (all headbutts whiff under you, not sure about their punishability, everything else is too slow and/or unsafe)
Fei Long (all normal Flame Kicks lose clean, EX will trade, Super and Ultra can get you)
Zangief
Chun Li (EX Spinning Bird trades for one hit and sends you away, without meter she got nothing)
Guile (EX Flash Kick whiffs under, Flash Kicks lose, Super/Ultra fetch 100 damage with no recovery at best)
Sakura
Honda (EX Headbutt loses, all butt slams whiff {first hit}, HP Super and Ultra will beat you though)
Vega (that evasive Flip thing is his lot, not sure if punishment on it is guaranteed)
Dhalsim (EX Yoga Blast trades {50 damage} at best, you can roundhouse his Teleport of course)

The writing in the vid title and description reads something like:

SF4 Australian Akuma Throw Setups (1)

(Something about trouble recognising input during the dashes?) succeeds in arcade many times, use at own risk… or something

… lol?

More on the other vids to follow later…
