How can you not like Gouki? Have you fought against Shin Gouki in SF3 Second Impact? The man can Triple Parry you Shinkuu Hadouken twice in one round. There’s a reason why the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Strategy Guide that came out last month dubbed Gouki as one of the greates fighting game bosses ever. And this is a book that represents games that also have Gill and Vega(Cape.)
Yeah, Gouki is pretty cool. I mean shit, he sent Vega (hat) and Rose to hell in 15 hits. Problem is, although his story is cool and all, it’s just a smaller part of Ryu’s.
He is the brother (I think) and killer of Ryu’s master, he is Ryu’s father (conjecture from the alpha animation, even though it’s pretty non-canon), and now he is waiting for somebody (hmm, wonder who that could be) to be strong enough to fight him.
Ryu will kill that bitch with a Shin-Sho-Ryu-Bitch-Slap. :tup:
EDIT: Come to think of it, I wonder how Udon will play out Ryu/Gouki’s relationship. Will they go with the father thing? Will they leave it unfinished? Interesting…
Gouki is not Ryu’s father even in the Anime. The creators were being very cryptic with the whole thing, the more Anime/Manga/Japanese Live Action Movies you read/watch the better you will understand this. He pretty much answers the question if he is Ryu’s father by saying, “Where I walk, I walk alone. Where I fight, I fight alone.” Lots of Animes try to get you to think unlike American Cartoons that will flat out spell everything out for you. Nothing against either, just pointing that out. Capcom’s in charge of the Canon anyway, so no, Gouki is not Ryu’s father.
The way I interpreted that quote was Gouki only cares about the fight. His only desire is to master the SNH and he doesn’t care about family.
Anyway, Shun said he learned the SNH from his father. And he says that his mom HAD to leave Ryu with a man named Gouken for training. This implies that she already knew Gouken, so the chances of her knowing Gouki raises quite a few notches. I think there was one other thing that implied he is Ryu’s father, but either way the alpha movie is pretty fucked up canon wise. So as much as I’d like to take it seriously, I know I shouldn’t.

Shun was lying to Ryu. He tells him this at the end of the Anime when he is about to die. He was experimented on, that’s how he came across SNH. You can’t learn SNH, your either afflicted by it, or you are not. (you can’t get it due to experimentation either I don’t think, but that’s a vehicle the Anime decided to use. Either that, or they gave Shun a strong desire to win at all costs during experimentation leading to SNH) Gouki would never train anybody. People like him and Ryu don’t train others, they train themselves.
And it would make very little sense for Ryu’s mother to get Ryu away from Gouki by giving him to Gouki’s brother, but there’s a few things in the Anime that don’t make that much sense anyways.
I don’t think she was running, but wanted Ryu to be able to stop him. Good points though, especially about training. I don’t think Ryu would train untill he is done learning a hell of a lot more, and even then I bet he wouldn’t wanna burden someone with the lifestyle of a fighter. Gouki deffinitely wouldn’t train anybody… stinky bastard.

Yeah, Okamoto of Capcom of Japan was an Executive Producer on the Anime! Couldn’t he have let them know how to use Guy? Should of gotten Funamizu…
I still liked the Anime, not as much as the Animated Movie or the TV Series, but the music, character designs, animation and Dan’s Gadouken that made me laugh out loud made up for a lot. 
Akuma is not that bad of a character. He is powerful and very cheesy when expert players use him. He,s a good character.

I think akuma is a very unique Villian. Yes its true that he maybe a beefed up version of ryu and ken. But have you notice his purpose in the story line is different than any other villians? what does Mbison, geese howard, gill, etc… all have in common? they all want to take over the fuckin world!!! How unique and original is that? Akuma dont give a shit about the world, it could blow up for all he cares. Akuma main purpose is to find a person who could kill him. The fucker will celebrate and congratulate with you if you hadoken his ass to jupiter (once he come back to earth) then try to kill you again.
I want Gouken to come back. I have heard he’s not dead and still training. I wonder how they would write it. Would Ryu be more powerfull than both Gouken and Gouki by that time?

Bison should have FUCKED Gouki up! Capcom just made Gouki out of the blue and said “have him kill Bison”. That is weak, I hope Bison comes back in SF4 with a vendetta. After years of brewing in hell listening to Rose say “I told you so” over and over again Bison figures a way to escape hell(with Rose unfortunately). He keeps himself clandestine until the climax of the World Warriors Tournament 4 where he melts Gouki’s head off with the PSYCHO COLLIDER. Show’em man! PSYCHO POWER AIN’T NOTHIN TO FUCK WIT!
