Ah ok. So during a Tatsu or something like that, right.
Or a teleport. You can cancel teleport into the ultra. Tatsu is a bad idea, can’t cancel tatsu into U2 and U2 has a long startup.
Oh ok. Well, finally! Something the teleport is useful for.

My Current Quick Question:
The other day I played a dude where every time I knocked him down and went for HKDF Palm Whiff to cross up, he would mash throw on wake up. I was getting thrown out of any button I pressed and even when I tried to land and EX Tatsu KNOWING he would do it, I still got thrown. The only way I could reliably beat it was to just uppercut which I found a little silly.
So is there a technique to blow up wake up throw mashing after a whiffed palm cross up that I haven’t thought of?
you can’t whiff a jump attack and expect to escape a reversal throw. You have to work the round and teach them not to mash this on wakeup with the right meaty attack setups. Only then you can mix up with cross up whiff.
EX Tatsu blows up low crouch tech, but it isn’t airborne immediately. So if you don’t do it out of frame advantage you can get thrown out of the start up.
That’s a good point, the frame advantage. The palm whiff have to land earlier before their wakeup then.
Anyway it’s more about stand tech mashers here.
That’ll do it. Looks like it isn’t airborne until frame 6 according to the wiki.
Shouldn’t EX tatsu beat both crouch tech and stand throw the same way? When put up against EX tatsu the only difference between the two (crouch tech/stand throw) is that stand throw is a frame or two faster (depending on the character).
EX Tatsu is the weaker of Akuma’s anti-tech tools. It can also get beat by several crouch techs.
Really. interesting…
What are the strong ones? well placed cMP’s?
If you have godlike reactions, a counter hit cr.mp into far roundhouse combos punishes crouching techs pretty damn hard.
iirc, ex tatsu 1st 6frame is grounded meaning you will get thrown/interrupted by 3frame. i am still figuring out the best way not to get thrown in that situation too.
i’ll put it that you timed your demonflip palm too late. therefore anything after that doesn’t have invincibility will get thrown by 3frame. therefore do it earlier or throw them back like infilitration :D.
silly stuff sometime works wonder , dp/raging demon will win against that situation of yours.
That and Shoryukens. I usually have trouble timing c.mps for anything, so two bars and srks are a good choice.

You can just counter hit into sweep. It’s a 3 frame link instead of 1.
Yeah that’s what I do, but I’m jealous of people who can consistently hit confirm a 1 frame link on counter hit vs characters that the 2nd is punishable against, my slow ass reactions can never do that.
After Akuma’s stun nerfs I feel CH roundhouse combos will give him a great boost, I really wish they would have messed the frame data out of far jab to remove the loop and kept far roundhouse as a 7 frames normal, would have been a lot easier for using it with counter hits AND we’d still have fireball FADC roundhouse combos against everyone.

OS palm to super
I’ve seen tokido doing it on a few vids, but I can’t tell if it’s actually an OS
it catches back dashes
is it an OS or just a read/bait for the backdashes?
it’s indeed an OS but it’s only effective if your palm beats all the other options of the opponent. you don’t want to get dp out of you super and lose all that metter.
I’ve seen it a lot against Able’s. maybe it’d work on balrogs too?
no it doesnt. a lot of super setups dont work on him cuz the way he is hunched over kinda pushes us back
It’s a normal option select to catch backdashes, it’s exactly how regular U1 works to catch backdashes too which we’ve known and used for ages.
It’s not worth it unless you’re going for the kill IMO though or close to it, damage is 330 for an entire super bar and it leads to a garbage knockdown that you don’t have enough time to follow up with setups, 1 bar gives you 190 damage with an EX SRK which beats a lot of backdashes (some will make it whiff) and at the same time it can beat quite a bit of reversals (EX psycho crusher, Honda’s EX headbutt or buttslams…etc).
