For some reason, hp dp comes out half a second late after light tatsu. I have a lot of trouble with that combo since the only way I can nail it is by double tapping fierce or mashing dp. Outside of that combo, I can dp with ease with zero delay. I don’t get it, I can pull the same combo in every other game 10 times straight except this one.
You have to do the DP alot earlier than the visual cues might indicate during Akuma’s tatsu. To be honest, I mash the shit out of it to compensate for any online lag regardless of the fact that I know the timing. It doesn’t bother me at all because I never mash reversals or random shit on wake-up.
EDIT: Try doing the motion the INSTANT Akuma lets out his groan during the lk tatsu.
For x-up Tatsu, Pure luck. It’s not something I try against her unless she doesn’t have the meter and even then you have to be sneaky with it. Chun has too many ways out of it. You should focus on more solid options against Chun.
Maybe it’s because she wakes up a frame slower after demon flip throw so she’s still invincible? I still see the setup used quite often vs Cammy so maybe altering your timing a bit would fix the trade issue.
I was hoping someone can help me out with my footsies. Basically just give me a quick rundown on what i should be doing. I think this is what i lack most and I get demolished by players that can use footsies properly mainly guile/rose users.
Anyway the most annoying problem I have is pretty much walking into random shit. I will try to poke a few times with cr.mp or cr.mk and back out or pause but i will end up getting hit by a random low attack, hurts even more if they cancel it into something.
Also while attempting frame traps or counterhit setups, 8/10 times it doesn’t work because i would get jabbed or randomly reversal’d.
Any tips? I guess i should go watch some tokido videos and see how he plays.
I was trying the exploding heart techniques on oni, but it seems like Akuma’s demon fly kick wont stuff any of his shoryus, anyone know what are the safe jumps against oni?
Their SRK’s have different invincibility frames and hitboxes so if a demon flip dive kick can beat Akuma’s SRK doesn’t mean that it can beat Oni’s. Neither can be properly safe-jumped since they’re 3 frame reversals.
Yes and no. The problem is not the SRK rather it is an effect of Oni’s hittable box. It’s large size diverts dive kicks and jump ins forward because of its large size. So no matter how you space it, your dive kick will be diverted into Oni’s SRK hit box.
Part of what allows you to beat Akuma’s DP is the fact you aren’t challenging it head on. You are trying to hit the back side in order to avoid the SRK’s attack boxes. You can’t do that as easily against Oni.
Oh I see, thanks for the info. I’ve barely played any Oni players so never tried to look for setups vs him, I did play As Oni for a bit against my friend’s Gief and the EX SRK has a crazy hitbox, it often hit a crossup splash attempt on wakeup without auto-correcting (not full hits though).
