Last time I saw a matchup chart - Ryu beats Akuma. Though that was before I went to Japan. Dunno if anything has changed in the meantime.
Ryu VS Akuma - Akuma doesn’t have any tools that really give trouble to Ryu. One good combo from Ryu on Akuma is pretty much winning the round.
Also - does anyone know that, or should i ask WHY - cr.short, kara demon on Ryu doesnt work unless you delay the kara demon a couple of frames A little geeky frame data knowledge that I got from Zak after he started experimenting with Ryu.
Ken on the other hand has almost every tool and advantage to take out Ryu. And one good combo from Ryu on Ken doesn’t turn the tide that much. Unless you get a freak denjin in there.
Why is it harder to do AA demon on Dudley?
Also, would you recommend staying away from demon flip pressure? I really like following up a light tatsu with a st. fierce into demon flip but like I said, I often just eat an ex upper on the dive kick.
Why don’t more people follow up the combo I just mentioned with a DarkTien demon instead of dive kick?
A couple of things - against players that like to uppercut out of the reset you can do the stand fierce reset into 3 hit red. If they are just mindlessly loading the uppercut they eat the fireball. If they aren’t it’s pretty safe.
I use darktien demon all the time.
Also try Akuma’s close roundhouse, the two hit overhead. It beats Duds non ex option on wakeup and does mega stun.
I’ve seen Jiro cancel his crouching forward into demon on Duds jump. Not sure if it was by design or not.
I find them useful when you have Dud in the corner. A med demon flip looks alot like a normal jump and you can get free throws off of it because the Dud player may expect that you are going for a normal jump crossup.
An interesting follow up is if your opponent decides to parry the red you can roundhouse demon flip throw them.
Good information everyone, merci! Occasional red fire balls after HP resets are going into my game. I’ll have to look out for your cautionary note though, RTSD.
I have another question. If you can hide lp from coming out by holding mp or hp then why don’t more people use that to pull RD out of nowhere. For example, I use the lp crossup demon I’ve seen JR use on people sometimes but they start to get wise to the weird lp popping out at the end of my jump. I understand that when they’re in the corner the lp pushes them out so you can slip in for the crossup but I can catch people mid screen with it sometimes. If I could hide the lp and just empty crossup jump into demon or kara-demon that would be great.
Please explain why people don’t use the lp hide trick other than to do cr.lk~>KD. Maybe they are and I’m not noticing.
You can’t super cancel cause akuma’s in recovery, but you could probably demon out of the recovery with 2 bars.
This would be a pretty dirty setup if you know your opponent can command dash through fierce RFB’s. Do the hp reset knowing they can parry and command dash super after the first hit and buffer jabs in the recovery of the RFB. Then just finish the demon on reaction to the command dash B4 the fierce Corkscrew.
No it’s not, same for cr. forward tatsu xx demon (I only recorded these 2 because a guy on some other forum told me that it’s impossible to cancel a fireball/tatsu into demon without having the opponent parry the special move)
The only situation where that cr. forward --> fireball --> demon would be “useful” is a “red parry bait” situation.
Those were the ones I was talking about. In a match, you gotta react pretty quickly. Also dashing or whiffing low roundhouse are not things I’d risk against a jumping Dudley. If you are super good though, go for it!
