I downloaded the game and the patch. How do you put in the patch? I am dumb with computers.

Go find the Akatsuki folder in your C:Drive…and drag the programs in the patch into the folder.

Copy and Replace, and you’re set.

the nethack is made obsolete by Caster, so yeah you won’t need it.

Using this as your primer should get you off to a good start.

There’s some good Kanae match videos in this channel, very helpful.

I actually really want to learn Kanae too. Anonym is really cool and all, but I’ve discovered lately that in any fighting game, I’m all about WUTHWESS AGWESSHUN.

Your best bet is probably going to be researching some match videos on youtube.

But, as far as basics go:

  • 2B anti-airs but it’s not perfect
  • 5C is a really good poke. It can also be used as an anti-air if you space yourself far away.
  • 2C is great at max range, good poke.
  • 3C can go under some fireballs and some pokes, but don’t spam it.

Thows:

  • 2A slow 236A works, you just need to do the input for the grab late
  • 2AA 236B (or 2AAA 236B) works when you interchange it with staggers
  • 2A 5B combos on hit and on block it’s airtight, but you can delay the 5B to hit people trying to jump away after 2A
  • 2A 6C doesn’t combo and is not airtight on block but in the corner it will give you lots of options if they block on the ground, if they airblock (jumping after 2A) then you can do tons of guard damage.

Regarding corner:

  • groundblocked 2AA airblocked 6C 236B can sometimes be unaviodable
  • groundblocked 2AA airblocked 6C 2A 6C does over 60% guard bar damage

Like I said before, you could figure out how to play her if you observe and experiment etc. But it’s pretty strait forward, after a 2A you can either do another melee or you can throw. If you do a melee you’ll be doing lots of guard damage. And if you’ve got them in the corner you can do tons of guard damage.

Reckless Kanae players get baited, HARD. She’s a character you need a lot of patience with as it’s very easy to become predictable with her.

Stick to one or two characters, switching characters often will not help you.

What are Sai’s and Marilyn’s weaknesses? I need to know the flaws of my characters.

I said ruthless, not reckless. I understand where you’re coming from, and I appreciate the input, I really do, but I really enjoy rushdown in my characters these days(Vanessa Lewis says hi) and Kanae seemed like a good character for aggressive play. If I’m mistaken, though, I’m more than willing to try out someone who’s a bit more pressure-based…as long as it’s not Sai. Fuck Sai.

Sai has crap AA and wakeups

For AA you have like, 4C and 5C. 4C is actually decent since he sticks his first straight forward somewhat high, but it only works at the right distances and in general normally only if you do it a tad early. Some attacks will beat it clean pretty much no matter what, but it also beats some surprising ones like Mycale j.2C.

5C is kinda the same but more likely to trade, BUT if you do land it you can get a small combo off at least. If they do a jump-in when they’re relatively close to you though, don’t try either one. Just block/parry or you can try doing 236C to dash underneath and past them.

For wakeup all you really have is like 214BC, it gives the most invul(15 frames IIRC). But that’s a whole meter just for wakeup so don’t bother unless you absolutely need it and ONLY if you’re POSITIVE it will land. His super is best saved for combos anyway since he’s the type of character that if he ever hits you he can probably get a full combo off into super.

Oh yeah, his pressure’s great, but his pokes kinda suck since none of his normals aside from 5A actaully aim forward. They all either aim upwards or straight down, BUT the regular B and C normals all have forward movement, hence great pressure and deceptive range. He just won’t be beating poeple out alot though.

You’ll use that ALOT, since alot of Sai’s specials and normals are total parry bait. In the corner you can do way nastier stuff too.

Sai is badass, this is fact. Especially in AA when he’s got his lean on.
