Air Dash Nerf. Lets talk about it

Dr.Doom can now attack while air dashing backward so I’ll take this nerf because I’ve had way more problems with pixie characters running under my forward dash and turning it into a backdash that I can’t attack during.

As long as this fucks over Spider-Man I’m happy. Fucking prick…

They should make air normals universally air-dash cancellable. Since the airdashing to move into mixup is basically a death sentence, why not improve the actual mixup by allowing people to do multiple overheads via airdash cancelling. And the airdashes are slower so it’s not like it’s gonna be hard to block.

Airdashes were one of those things that were already a little too strong, when you get right down to it.

The block nerf was absolutely necessary, and the speed nerf… well I hope its by character.

People are overreacting some though, seems to me. In a number of the important ways people use airdashes this won’t matter at all.

The game in general is being changed in a way so that super jump height movement is less strong. They want characters without flight/air dash to be just as scary and able to catch people in the act as those that fly and air dash around. I think it’s the whole stigma of aerial characters running MVC2 that they’re trying to get rid of in MVC3. That’s why you can’t turn around during super jumps and a lot of the more ground based characters like She Hulk have moves that blow you up if you’re in the air too long.

Well ammy is one of my favorite characters and its been confirmed for her for over a month now, so this announcement actually makes me happy that its a universal thing and not just my dog getting nerfed. With that said, while it does stink, it prolly plays into the whole making zoning a lot better now, the air mobility really hurt a lot of zoning characters when magneto could box jump from a half a screen away and be right in your grill in the blink of an eye, least now there is some downside to just blindly dashing into an opponent. Plus she got better x-factor, air x-factor, and air weapon changes in return, still keeps her annoying hit-box, and pushblock killing pressure so I definitely think she is still gonna be good.

On the ammy note, I think this will just force people to either learn her other stances or simply drop her, knowing the FG community it will probably be the latter but w/e, least it gives the ammy players incentive to learn other stances.

I love the tri-jump nerf, screw magneto, screw that bastard, and off the top I think he, doom and phoenix are the only two people who are really nerfed by it and doom got that stupid dive kick to replace it, storm should still have her instant overhead, iron mans tri-dash got pretty much taken out a while back, trish still has her dive-kick. I have no idea why they would nerf thors tri-dash though, he is the only one I think should have been exempt cause his shit was slow enough already.

I’d say Doom is neutral after everything since not being able to attack while air dashing backwards was practically worse than not being able to block during air dashes.

I hate the way he can constantly air dash in your face while option selecting J.H/throw and block at the same time. Then when I finally hit the little rascal, my normals whiff because he’s so low to the ground.

Morrigan could still block out of her air dashes in the SDCC/Evo build, so why would i have noticed that I couldn’t block out of an air dash? Pretty sure the only character who couldn’t block during air dashes in that build was Ammy, but Morrigan sure as hell still could.

Edit: Her air dash doesn’t complete any faster, at least not in any recorded footage. The “ground” dash can be canceled much earlier, but the only change to her air dashes were minimum height. Distance traveled on Morrigan’s dash is determined by how long you hold forward/back, and is exactly the same minimum distance in all footage I’ve seen.

Anyway, since it bears repeating: apparently note 10 was incorrect initially and is only the down-back air dash for 8-way dashes.

I really dont understand this decision, i just want to know how characters without teleports are going to deal with keep characters like ghost rider…

Ammy isn’t one dimensional. The airdash nerf doesn’t destroy her. L2p

yeah spider-man is definitely hard to hit. just to let you know if you crouch while he is doing his normals, his standing medium whifs so if you see a spidey doing that than you could crouch and hit him when he misses the medium. on some large characters it still hits though like sentinel hulk and maybe dormamu. i just think that making it impossible to block with his airdash is bad because his is so much longer and its not 8 way so he cant to like a tri dash to get closer while getting to the ground to block. also spider-mans crouching light is a little slower than most. and you should watch out if you block his webswing while crouching because then he can follow it up with some air mediums and hit you over head.

Yeah this is ass, probably gonna drop Thor or Iron man…or both considering they probably have the slowest flights in the current UMVC3 and making them slower and now unable to block makes them useless. Its been fun Avengers…I’ll still go see your movie though!

I know X-23 will be fine. The matchup won’t be in her favor necessarily but she has two invincible supers that can can cancel into safe DHC or XF to keep him in check. Plus any good talon attack + solid assist call should help her close the gap (or a good wall jump + assist + block or air throw).

If combos had a tier, Spider-Man w/Deadpool OTG and Doom Missiles as an assist would be S-Tier.
