it looks like i have misunderstood the meaning of the term open beta. i thought anyone would be able to just download the game and try it out, but turns out that you must have a key to play.

Typical Raids, PvP, Crafting is pretty big also. Abyss seems to play a huge part in this game.
Aion is a PvP based game. Well, “PvPvE” as they like to call it.

I have a good rig and run it easily at HQ, on my laptop I’m still able to run it easily. If you can run WoW, you can run this easily. Hate to make another example with CO(only other game out I can compare to), but with CO I completely blow over their recommended requirements and would still get choppy fps, clipping, and random lag during heavy events. Seemed like so much clutter in that game for not really having beautiful visuals/anything demanding. If you can run CO, you can run Aion.
Heres some notes i took from 2-3ish hours i managed to spend in the abyss in closed beta before it wiped
The Abyss
Is freakin sweet
Okay so what I’m learning - sorta spoilers for quests you learn this shit from
Abyss entry quest is cool
It’s literally one big Up/Down zone, you look up and see the middle, and if you fly higher you get to the top half
There are circle/gates you can fly through you refresh/increase your flight time and increase your flight speed for a little bit
Almost all quests (so far) in the abyss also give abyss points
Forts are open on the top, but there are “damage shields” that will pretty much wtfown anything that tries to fly through it
You can turn off the shields by destroying the generators inside the keep, opening up the sky for en masse open fights as opposed to ground fighting
Gates can be destroyed without siege weapons, but if there are people repairing them using a “gate stone” or something (chanelled, ranged repairs to the gate using a purchased item), you arent going to get through
Siege weapons wtfown gates
Keep Lords are underground apparently, and look sweet
~Possibly not sure, but if there arent many asmodeans in the abyss, maybe when defending, you get npc reinforcements
Several capturable artifacts surround the keeps, and are srlsy op (kill/damage everyone, heal everyone type of stuff) and will make attacking/defending alot easier
Kisks/Portable bind stones are essential for sieges
Dredgions randomly appear and fuck your shit up
You get abyss points from npcs, not even enemy npcs, im killing creeps and getting ~15 points at 25 off a 25… not much, but wtf okay
You can teleport from the bottom shard to the top shard
bottom shard is lower level im assuming 25+
It’s alot fucking higher up than i expected, you will NOT be flying up
Stigma shards drop from npcs here
Feels like you get alot more xp in the abyss btw too, took me all day to get from 24 to 25, but within i dont know, 1-2 hours of doing stuff in abyss i got about halfway through 25

Just wondering. Can you raise your own stats? Like allocate points in things like STR, CON, Dex, Int etc? Or does the game do it automatcially when you level up?
Pretty sure it’s automatic.
auto stats like wow, you buy every skill you can use, stigmas are like ‘talent stones’ that you equip for new skills

turns out that you can’t cancel your gamestop online preorder. you must go to an actual gamestop store and buy the preorder then cancel.

No, you can, but you have to send them an email to cancel the order. It’s stupid that you have to, but I’ve done it.
You should do it with Amazon. I pre-ordered/canceled to receive my beta key.

i actually ordered a second copy to get the beta key for my friend. i thought i was stuck ordering two copies of the actual game, so i sent them an e-mail about having connection problems while ordering. they canceled the second order, which was cool of them.
well that sucks

How are we going to organize getting on the same server? I have a couple rl friends playing, so I will probably stick with them. I’ll post what server I choose at the start of OB as well as on release.
