I think I’m looking forward to tomorrow, more for the fact that I can gank more names, than actually dealing with lag issues and 4 million people fighting over every mob.

Looking on Aion forums, all this MMO terminology is making my head spin. 
It’s funny to me though, everyone on the site I went on it whining about this guild and that guild coming to whatever server, whereas I don’t even think I’m gonna do PvP. Probably because I’m used to stuff like PSO.
I’m what I guess they’d call a casual player, the guy who will do stuff like only use a sword when I could have a shield or dual-wield simply because I like the look of the single sword.
Makes me glad I have no ties at all to anyone on the server I picked. All the guild v. guild from <insert game here> is so damn funny to read. Apparently, it’s serious business keeping an e-rep from WoW or Failhammer.
i get enough “pvp” with FGs so i dont care much about it here. whether you like it or not though pvp is gonna find you, so it helps if you dont get pwned all the time. yeah i know it doesnt require much if any skill but youd be crazy to want to lose for no reason.
you can always remodel items to look the way you want them to anyways. i know im gonna be running around meleeing people with books
…if i choose a melee class that is. i kinda want to hit the level cap quickly and be able to log in “whenever” before i start to get really busy. somehow i dont think doing less dps than mno is going to help accomplish that.

People will still gank you. Even in the fricking open beta while farming monsters outside of Morheim, I was jumped by a Ranger.

Zikel became a bug zapper when the PT crew from Warhammer moved there, it attracted all the wannabes and gank guilds to roll there (though alot of it was just forum trolling), now some of the PT guys are like "woah yeh, this is a little out of hand, /reroll"
Cant really blame them, I know alot of those guys and having to put up with some of the asshattery going on there will just plain suck
I tried to convince my guys to reroll too but, they wanna stick it out and see if its as bad as it really seems
I’ve got my “I told you so” voice all lined up and ready to go anyway
Just to be different, I’ll be going Asmo Gladiator too… was the only class I really enjoyed during CB/OB

pros: look like a gundam at level 50, wont die that much
cons: takes forever to get to level 50
with assassin its like
pros: level up fastest in game
cons: dies fast, can you dual wield books (item remodel)?
im not too worried about finding groups (even if you guys arent on) because apparently grinding is the fastest way to level anyways, but i liked being useful as a tank :3 useful classes tend to be the ones that get to see all the content anyways.
maybe ill make a glad or something. it gets to look cool and do okay damage.
OH THE CHOICES
Gladiator can still off-tank, and even main tank in non-extreme situtations simply because of damage output combined with some minor aggro skills. There’s instances that are time based and I’ve seen plenty of people just grab a Gladiator instead of a Templar to run through it faster. If you’re not tanking you’re doing pretty much the best aoe dps in the group.
In pvp it’s a bit bleh until you can get your two godly stigmas. Ankle Snare is an unremovable ranged snare on a 2 min cooldown, and Unwavering Devotion (I think that’s what it’s called in english) to give you crazy ass CC resists (well, stun and knockback) for 1 MIN, with a 3 min cooldown. Prepare to pay a fucking fortune for it though, and even Ankle Snare is fairly pricey.
Yeah, there’s a debate on Aionsource about whether Ankle Snare or Lockdown is better.
My understanding is that Lockdown prevents melee skill use for 3 seconds (like silence for spells) - I dont know if that means its like disarm from WoW
But it seems to go along with the stigma icon being a hand being struck
Regardless, it’s required for the beastlyness that is the top tier AoE/KD skill, so I’ll be getting it anyway

So, got a question. From my previous post, I said that I’m basically a sword using guy. That said, would you say Gladiator or Assassin is a better class for that sort of thing? Gladiator was cool when I used it in Beta, but it seems like a lot of their stuff ends up being based on greatsword or polearm which I’m not a fan of.
Like I said, I don’t really play MMOs (this is my first real MMO) so I’m just wondering.
Gladiator powerhouse abilities come into play using 2H weapons, it’s a 2h class first, dual wield/1h second (Correct me if im wrong, but there arent any 1h/dw only attacks that gladiators get, all skills can be used with a 2h, but there are some 2h only attacks)
You might wanna look at assassin if you want 1h melee dps

From what I’ve heard, the only weapons that cannot be remodeled are extendable weapons, theoretically you should be able to do that but… I havent been able to confirm it anywhere yet
you take the weapon you want to keep the stats of, and the weapon you want it to look like, and combine them… books are weapons so… but I’m not sure if you have to be able to equip both types of weapons in order to combine them

Edit - I’d imagine there would be limitations to the system, as such as making a 1h weapon look like a 2h weapon, surely there would be graphical glitches with something like that, will see what i can find (at work on a sunday, BORED)

Well… technically this article only mentions armour, but I’m willing to bet it’s the same for weapons
With Glads, you’re either using a polearm or you’re dual wielding. Greatsword has been proven to be worse than the polearm due to a couple factors that you easily find in the Glad section on Aionsource. Dual wielding is for group for the higher DPS since crits and knockdowns aren’t as crucial, while polearm is for solo and PvP. At least, from my understanding and perusing of the Glad boards, this is what a glad should use. Additionally, I’ve seen quite a few high level glads pack a bow in addition to their polearm.
