I’ll be at UFGT so I’m gonna test a bunch of stuff myself! Really looking forward to it. Is ex lariat safe? If Ryu does cr mk xx fireball, can I block cr mk and always do ex lariat after to beat fireball/ex fireball and block if no fireball? Or can I block the cr mk and do ddmk to go through the fireball? Etc. I got a whole list drawn up that I’ll post when I get a chance later.
Also, claps were def focus/super cancelable in the beta. I did like, hp clap, mp clap xx ex red focus, meatsquasher and it was like 400 damage at least. Hp clap, mp clap xx rfc, u1 took considerably more than half life heh.
The hypothetical damage would be 748 without scaling due to health. The super should do 80% damage, which is 240. And Ultra scales twice so it goes to 60% which is what you wrote down anyways. Even with the extra scaling because of health, damage should still be 700+. Not very likely to happen, but more likely than other high damage combos like Ken’s j. HK, cl. HK, Super, Ultra or Sagat or Gouken’s 600+ damage combo.
yep totally forgot ultras count as 2 moves ><, 748 damage is nothing to sniff at, i do suspect that U2 will suffer the same post super damage reduction that the backbreaker does.
Provided the MS > st.Lk testing proves works on more than dudley the next thing would be how easy landing a non ex MS will be against an awake, read up opponent will be, once the ‘deer in the headlights’ effect of his move has faded.
748 damage is 0 damage if we cant land that critical move, If a couple of of you folks could test its viabilty/setups that would be ace.
One more thing to test I keep seeing in videos ex meat squasher gets hit by regular projectiles when I thought the move have one hit armor what’s up with that???
Could be it loses its invulnerability when he is within a certain range of an opponent/just about to start the grab animation, another thing to test I suppose
It wasn’t cancelable in the beta, pretty unlikely that that kind of thing would change. Also, in general only hp/hk attacks combo into red focus, not mp or mk. Those extra-hitstun close mps like Cammy & Fei have are the only exceptions afaik. And not even every cancelable hp works, eg Cammy close fierce didn’t work, at least in the beta.
The opponent is at least ground-able after meatsquasher, might even be in a grounded state. With that in mind, I’ll look into meatsquasher into u1 as well as into u2. That’d be sweet if one of those works huh
From the uploader: Recorded at the Goodbye AE2012 tournament in Harrow, London 18/05/2014. Apology for the poor quality video, phone recording. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXVmzjgaUos
Basically, he’s showing off a double EX-clap into Ultra 2.
Now I’m wondering whether anything else got nerfed ugh
Edit again: I should have watched the whole vid first. Here’s a sequence showing how ex backbreaker is no longer as good an escape as it was and maybe isn’t hit-invincible in the same way as before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4C9izC3Wpo#t=2m57s
In the console version, from what I’ve seen, everyone is running with big nerfs. I think this is a ‘weak’ version of every character they are testing to see what is necessary to be viable.
