AHM NUMBAH WAN - Hugo USF4 thread

I expect similar results when the game drops.

NO FEAR

I’m really happy with these balance changes. I knew Guile and Sim were going to be stupid as hell on release Ultra. Not for Hugo for the matchup, just in general. I’m really amazed that it took Capcom this long to notice how ridiculous they were going to be. Too busy keeping Vega down I guess.

Hugo being terrible in the arcade release is pretty much the best thing that could happen to him.

Hit me with those delicious buffs.

ok, now on the really important stuff:

cough can Gen jump over a standing hugo?

Everything starts with theory. Math. science, games, etc. If it involved deductive reasoning then theory is in the mix.

Theory is the potential of possibilities waiting to be tested.

So please shut the fuck up. Hugo community is hype for their character and it THIS energy that makes the FGC great. Don’t like theory?

Stop reading the thread. Keep your garbage to yourself and stop trying to piss in peoples cereal.

Fuckin jackass

What are your guys thoughts? Stormkubo is getting quite efficient with Hugo.

Yeh been watching him, KarinSF4 (new channel for KarinUSF4) channel on youtube has a lot of his stuff up

Okay, holy shit Hugo looks so fun in this video.

So fuzzy guard stuff is punishable by backbreaker. That alleviates one of the biggest concerns I had with him.

Getting more hyped to play.

Huh. I had Vega vs Hugo as 5-5, but this might actually be a rare instance of Hugo favor. Hard to say at this point, but here’s how I see it:

Hugo has unfuckwithable anti-air in this matchup, so Vega can never go into the air for no reason unless he feels like the life lead is too much responsibility to handle. He has to stay on the ground when Hugo’s at neutral and slug it out more or less evenly with Hugo’s ground normals. He has probably a slight advantage over Hugo in this department, but not an overwhelming one. (They’re about evenly matched on range, but Vega of course puts his hurtbox out there a bit less, walks really fast, and can kara throw with little risk of getting grabbed himself.)

If Vega gets taken to the corner, he needs a knockdown to safely escape, it seems like Hugo can catch him really easily on reaction to a wall jump or EX FBA. So Vega’s gonna need either a throw or a hit-confirm into EX FBA, which may take some gutsy, eagle-eyed decisions on his part. But this may not be a huge problem if Vega can keep the fight at midscreen. Between kara throw and hit-confirm into EX FBA, Vega seems like he could generate a healthy number of hard knockdowns to keep Hugo from gaining ground as long as he reads Hugo’s footsie tendencies well.

Not sure if Vega could punish Hugo’s c.MK on block from max range, but I get the feeling he might be able to due to his fast/long-reaching c. LP/c. MP. Seems like Hugo would have to go light on that move in this matchup due to Vega’s overall speed, hard to catch Vega’s ankles without running into a bait.

Normal anti-air vs Hugo might actually be a big plus for Vega in this matchup because of Hugo’s gigantic hurtbox and slow jump-ins. I wonder in particular if he might be able to c. HP certain of Hugo’s jump-ins, particularly j. HK, which reaches far but starts VERY slowly.

Air-to-air also seems like a possibility versus certain moves; I imagine air throwing j. HK would be a fairly large possibility. Jump fierce also seems like a good possibility for Vega because of the difference in speed between Hugo and Vega’s jump arcs. If Hugo jumps first, seems like Vega could jump later, get higher in the air than Hugo, and stab downward on many of Hugo’s jump-ins while keeping his own hurtbox high enough to avoid trades.

So I’d still call it 5-5 right now just to be safe, but it might end up being like 6-4 Hugo. I’ll keep my eye on this matchup.

I Wonder how well Hugos st HP works in this matchup, I think it beats vegas FB, atleast trade if vega goes for example a cr mp to FB on reaction to hugos armor move absorbing his cr mp.

Jesus Christ the damage those combos must do.

well that explains why Clap was destroying Sim, it must have more active frames than yun/yangs palm

Where do you get that impression? I think it has like 4 active frames.

Playing hugo vs sim at the loktest yesterday and he couldnt do anything on wakeup.then he did wake up super and it traded with HP Clap and i was able to follow up with S.lk into Clothesline

That’s nuts!:open_mouth:

Holy crap, i really hope those changes will stay!

Telling you man, getting roflstomped in arcade is not the worst thing.

I feel bad for Sim players, gonna get the nerf stick again probably.

theres a chance combofiend will nerf hugo now
