I see. You don’t think this is something similar this time? With hit head’s pushbox pushing people so far away that many moves whiff?
I don’t think so because I’ve seen jump ins whiff and moves whiff when he is already up on his knees. That is why I think it’s weird timing with his get up animation OR the early frames of his actual stun animation have invincibility.
Well, it’s possible. I just hope they fix it for the console release.
agreed. Whatever it is they should adjust it. Visuals or hurtboxes or pushboxes. Any of those could be fixed so it works like how it looks like it should work.
And still, i would have prefered a significant yoga mummy (the head drill) buff over this.
Somthing like:
wider hitbox or smaller hurtbox
armorbreaking (against abusers)
fast startup and descend
soft knockdown against airborn/focusbreak (so backdashing out of focus becomes a risk too)
This would prevent people from focus dashing through dhalsims moves.
That way, we’d had 1 character with an armored normal and one with an armorbreaking “normal”.
AND it isnt braindead, since sim has to take a risk:
unsafe on block
results in being closer to opponent
So, the Hugo glitchyness continues. He can apparently restand from meat squasher like El Fuerte can from Propeller Tortilla:

Am i imagining it or did he catch Adon (1:17) and C.Viper (1:25) with U1 while they were off the ground?
It would be nice to see all those matches that are in that clip in their entirety.
Welp, meaby they don’t even patch it,would be kinda cool, who knows
On a side note…madoka magica music? I mean what in the hell does Hugo have to do with madoka?
I’m cool with this.
I see at around 2:18 Hugo use his super to go through Juri’s fireball - IS this a glitch though? I don’t know what they implemented in this build, but previous notes stated that Hugo’s super had unique properties depending on the attack button used - I think it was either fireball invincible, strike invincible or throw invincible.
Quite sure it still has button-dependant invincibility like Abel and Hakan.
So the Sim player was Mochi…one of the best Sims, against an unknown Hugo. Hugo is new to the game, Sim has been there since the beginning. So Elite player with tons of experience vs 99% likely a vastly inferior player who would get blown up no matter who he used, picking a character that has been out for a few days. People jumping to conclusions…
Also…
In theory it’s going to be really difficult. So far, the only suggestions I heard from David & Ayano is splashing his st.MKs at the right distance or countering with cr.MP or a really well-timed clap to stuff his st.MK. All of these tactics seem to be only applicable in a range where Sim’s st.MK whiffs, since as you can see from the video, doing these between Sim’s st.MKs at the range where it can hit will result in these moves being stuffed all the time.
At the moment from how I see it, closing in seems to be an almost impossible task. The st.mk hits twice, hits Hugo crouching and can work really well as an antiair. That means, if coupled with slow projectiles like Sim’s LP yoga fire, there’s no way to jump, focus or even slowly walk your way in.
So does this mean, the only way to fight Sim trying to play footsies with him at max range?
The only way I see that looks somewhat viable to close in is to EX clothesline your way in. But as seen, even when done at the same time, the move is so slow Sim is able to block it in time, and I don’t think that move is safe. And even if it is safe and you get a free mixup after it’s blocked, you still need to build meter.
Sure, it’s Mochi and all, but it sure looks like he’s barely putting much effort in beating this Hugo… he’s just spamming the hell out of those standing far MKs because that move is just that good in this matchup. I’ll only be convinced if I see a Hugo player overcome this tactic on video.
This guy is uploading so much Hugo content pretty much all their usf4 vids are almost exclusively Hugo:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLDawhHxgbc
finally some attempted clap combos at 1:53, could have even followed that drop with backbreaker lol
That gives me an idea… can Hugo Ultra 2 off of anti-air LK Lariat?
If so, some theoretical Hugo mixup tech:
HP Clap > LP Clap > c.LK or c.LP xx Meatsquasher for throw into corner carry
Once you’ve conditioned them to jump out of this
HP Clap > LP Clap > crouch light xx LK Lariat (hold)
The delay lariat should hit them AA if they try to jump out, and if you can U2 or at least backbreaker off of it, you can punish big time for trying to jump out of the mixup
If someone has access to the game, can you test this shit out?
I think it’s more likely that you can land U2 than backbreaker. I saw someone do Ultra throw, clap to U2, so U2 has at least JP1.
UltraDavid on Sim vs Hugo
“2014 04-21: Quit whining about how it looks when a player using a new character faces off for the first time against one of the best players of another character. It never looks good, regardless of how the endgame of their matchup looks. PS Dhalsim v T.Hawk is even or at most a slight 6-4 either way, so, maybe hold off on proclaiming matchups you haven’t seen from the inside next time.”
Seriously though I highly doubt the match is as easy as “press s.mk and win”. There’s gonna be a way to fight it found eventually I’m sure.
Is Hugo’s movelist out yet?
I mean I can pretty much guess what the commands are based on SFxT. But doesn’t hurt to be more sure… even decapre’s movelist is out.
also wanna point out not sure if people caught this in the videos
but d+HP and s.HK (drop kick) both seems to cause knockdown against airborne opponent. Not sure if they cause knockdown against standing opponents, but i will imagine at least d+HP will.

i timed stamped it at 2:04.
Worth noting it’s kinda nuts.
