I’ll never get how people could watch a Final Fantasy/turn based RPG stream. I’ve got nothing against those games, but they’re entirely too slow and linear (IMO) to speedrun. Games like Link to the Past make sense because of the non linear format.

How are they playing GBA games? I know they’re not using the gameboy player, that thing is laggy as fuck.

Also, I was really excited to see Paper Mario Thousand Year Door but the whole run was like “how fast can we skip text”? Did anything cool ever happen?

It’s an RPG. nothing cool happens in an RPG speedrun. It’s scrolling through text as fast as possible and abusing one of the many broken things that all RPGS have.

No going through walls and skipping a chapter? It’s just playing the game and mashing out text?

They were using the GC GBA player.

I can’t believe they used that thing for a speedrun, it’s awful.

It depends on the RPG. Im sure there are skips but who is gonna stick around for 4+ hours to find out if you already arent interested.

Apparently the GBA player isn’t so bad. They know something you don’t. I only used it twice myself and I dont remember any issues. I just preferred my GBA.

Well I actually got some facts from the shmups forums and the GBA player has significant input lag due to the scaling options so I was wondering how on earth these frame perfect speedrunners don’t notice.

What are the go to runs to watch? I caught the Castlevania and Megaman block since they are some of my favorite series. I did watch Cosmo run ZZT with Dacidbro on the couch. It was pretty funny because there really wasn’t much to explain since it’s a DOS game, so the time was spent wondering what the hell everyone was watching. All weapons runs of Super Ghouls and Ghosts was entertaining too.
