After EX donkey kick, can u do this combo

Some useless shit…pm man I’ll show u wasup

to cross up opponents after Ex Joudan mid-screen, its better to use crouching jab, rather than standing.

As for the Vanao crossup that was mentioned before, it works efficently against shotos, haven’t had the chance to practice on the rest of the cast though, but its basically, when the opponent is glued to the corner–jump fierce, fierce, ex joudan, automatic crouching fierce, dash back voila

2 quick questions…

1.) Most of the EX Joudan combos shared here seem to work really well in the corner, but not too many will work in the middle of the screen. Mainly if I execute it in the middle, all I can really do is EX Joudan into a SRK since the EX Tatsumaki will bounce them far away from me. Is there any other combos that would work besides ex donkey into srk?..

2.)…Which kind of leads me to my next question. A lot of the times when I’m in the corner OR in the middle and I do an EX Tatsumaki, it won’t bounce them off the wall so I can juggle, it throws them the other way. Am i doing something wrong witht he timing?

I guess I should mention I am using Denjin so I can only do EX joudan into EX tatsumaki and a regualr SRK (i.e. I don’thave enough special bar even when it’s full to do ex joudan, ex tatsu and ex srk)

  1. EX donkey into roundhouse hurricane will work in practically any situation. The only exception is if you’re too close to the corner and your opponent bounces over you. You just have to learn to time it.

If you start the EX donkey kick combo in the corner, do the hurricane right away. They bounce pretty far away from you, but if you do the hurricane kick immediately after the EX Joudan, you’ll catch up and hit them on your second revolution. From mid screen you just have to time it. I prefer this to SRK because it pushes my opponent further away (I’ll be more likely to get my opponent in a corner) and if it hits, it will do more damage, if not more, than hp SRK. (I found that SRK has a weird property where if you hit them in the first few frames, it does more damage than if you hit them while airborne. Can anyone confirm this?). I think you can usually do SRK, if they’re bouncing too far away, you probably just need to dash up.

  1. It’s just a timing thing. I don’t think it’s worth it, especially if you use Denjin.

Confirm? Not with proof but I’ve noticed the same thing. It’s just like that I guess.

Every street fighter has that srk damage scale.
(not sure about 2)

it might always be better to do hk tatsumaki mid screen so you will be in their face on wake up instead of dashing.

but if your using denjin, you wouldnt even be using EX joudan at all. Depends on your setups to build another bar I suppose.

Yeah, I was doing it in practice mode with the damage meter thingy on. I wasn’t sure if I made the whole thing up though, or maybe I was misremembering. But based on that experiment, I claim that you’ll know if you got the larger damage value if you notice a kind of freeze in the starting srk animation. Otherwise the srk comes out smoothly.

Yes, the SRK does more damage when you hit with it deep ever since SF II. The HK Tatsu’s definitely a good option midscreen after EX joudan. I remember there was a thread on Denjin set-ups from EX joudan, but I thought they sounded too tough to do. If only we had 2I Ryu…

A very common one used in UK is (more of a joudan to Shin Shoryu setup, but same concept)

Fierce (to reset after joudan) cancelled to lk tatsu. Its a very risky 50/50, but if you then go for shoryu on your recovery from tatsu and it hits (anticipating a grab) you build the super so you can cancel the shoryu into SA. If they block the shoryu then you dont get the meter - which is ‘ok’ for a shin setup but I guess not for denjin.

Does anyone remember Vanao’s SICK joudan to corner ground crossup trick with cr.fierce? that was TOO SICK!

Damn wanna see that vid^ You made it seem mad hype haha

My japanese is weak, but Vanao roughly translated means “Frankie3s”

ORLY?!

Ok I have been gone for awhile trainin my characters and I ran across another Ryu player known as Vanao. Thats what I mean by playin Ryu in fierce mode(like ken) But that vid up top is the best match I have ever seen for him and I have watched about 10 of his vids since yesterday. I like my style of set up a lil better. Knock them across the screen throw a weak hodouken and chase them down as it hits they are waking up and will either block or parry which gives you time to do some damage but you will know what you need to do by the time you dash over to see what they are doin.

The crossup Vanao uses in that video (corner after EX Joudan, immediate cr. Fierce so that the fist hits opponent backward over Ryu’s head x toward dash which creates ambiguous landing for opponent depending on dash timing) works on:

Shotos, Chun Li, Q, Elena (depends on stance), Makoto, Urien, and Necro

you are a ryu beast, sir
