After 10 Years , Is MVC3 A Worthy Sequel to MVC2?

That’s never happening so yea…

Unless this is one truly universally hated mechanic.

Too soon to say.

I agree with these points.

What if they came out with MVC2 Vs MVC3… fate of 2 world.

Mvc2 Cable Vs Mvc3 Arthur…:coffee:

I think this games problems go way beyond xf, sent and dmg being too high (altho it def is a part of it). Certain moves and normals in this game combined with how assists work and the speed of the game makes it way too random and spammy.

It just came out 2 weeks ago, why we have this disscusion now?.. Better wait until the 6 month, or a year, then make the question…

Instead of just trolololololing, you can actually back that up.

If you want to be pained that I insulted MVC2’s fame, that’s fine. But if you’re arguing this game had a shelf life of ten years beyond its tournament level playing competions you [Need Citation]. Any inner circle can make a game last indefinitely. The original Donkey Kong, Pacman, hell even Space Invaders still have inner followings for competitive play.

Again, people need to stop looking at MVC3 at all if you were attracted to MVC2 for a literal “10 years 24/7-365”. It’s like asking the WOW base if Blizzard’s new MMO will be a “worthy sequel”. You’ll be hard pressed to find a “dedicated” WOW player instantly open up about how it blew his mind in just two days and made him forget WOW ever existed.

I personally hated MvC2. I felt that mashing a bunch of character from various fighting games together without any regard for balance was a fairly poor attempt at a fighter. Later, I saw that only 12-ish characters were tournament viable. Seeing as I hate mirror matches in any fighting game, I kept clear of the game.

I, however, am enjoying MvC3 quite a bit more. More characters that I like are in the game (Thor, Deadpool, Arthur, MODOK, etc.). Likewise, every single character feels pretty new and fresh. As opposed to MvC2 where most of the cast were ripped straight out of previous Capcom fighting games. Hell, Wolvie mostly had the same sprite animations that he sported a decade prior in Children of the Atom. There are more characters I wish made the cut in MvC3, but I understand the constraints from having to make 36 (+2) new character models, animating them, and balancing them.

Also, I’d just like to say this: It’s about damn time Thor made it into a Capcom fighting game as a playable character.

Personally I think the most ridiculous thing about X-Factor is the damage and speed boosts. Just allow the single cancel, it regain red life and negate chip. That is a pretty justified reward.

I don’t hate X-Factor, I just think it needs some tweaking. Besides not just the other guy has X-Factor. I’ve baited few opponents into using x-factor early by creating spammy, rushdown or high chip situations.

what is this i am reading? do people really not understand why MvC2 was such a great game?

Why was MvC2 such a good game?

I want a 400-1000 word essay followed by a TLDR at the end so I can ignore everything you wrote.

MVC2 was fun cause of the people who played it, the game itself had tons of flaws

Is it a true sequel, i dont think so. The game looks good but fighting games are meant to do more than look good. disclaimer: this is my opinionFighting games should be challenging. They should require you to spend tons of time in training mode getting better and reading forums to get the upper hand. there is no way I should be able to pick up the controller and be a force to be reckoned with after one game, I’m sorry. If you can’t keep up with the button inputs or can’t block a simple mixup then go play smash bros or double dragon. I shouldn’t have to lower my playing level just because capcom wants to make a buck. There have been a bunch of valid points on both sides of the argument and it is also rather early to make a real decision but I still stand by my opinion. I’ll wait a year before I even rent it. I bet half if not all of the people complaining about mvc2 haven’t even put in the effort to be halfway decent. They probably got rom’d by magneto or got caught in an IM infinite and gave up instead of trying to learn the very things that were defeating them. I don’t see the elitist attitude that a lot of you see. Maybe it’s because I’m willing to get beat 20-0 by guys like yuu-mei and khaos and then go to training mode and practice or ask questions on this forum. If you wanna be good at something you have to start at the bottom. Period. If you’re coming in the game keeping up with those at the top then something isn’t right. That’s not how fighters work. It takes a commitment and your game will reflect your level of commitment.

The ONLY reason I stopped playing marvel when I did is because the guys I played with started playing guilty gear. If marvel online would have been available earlier I doubt I would’ve ever stopped playing. The game is dope. Period. It’s not my favorite fighter ever but something must be right if so many people are still playing it after 10 years that an online mode happened. I didn’t even start playing god tier until about a month ago and the game has always been fun. I don’t mind losing, what I mind is winning without effort.

Hell yes. It did not disappoint for me, and I was hyped THROUGH THE ROOF with this game and played it like everyday for 2 weeks constantly lol. I don’t get why people think it sucks…it’s so fun in fact after playing it and looking at MVC2…MVC2 looked really bad :o

Also another thing, a complaint I can agree with is 1 DLC character being $5. But the thing is…you’re able to choose it’s not like you’re FORCED to, for instance, if I didn’t get the SE I would’ve only bought Shuma, but still $5 is pretty ridiculous :x

Some of the noobs on here who have NO fighting game experience under their belt are being wayyyy too defensive to MvC3.

Just saying.

I didn’t play MvC2 seriously but I know it was a hard game compared to MvC3.

There IS hype for MvC3 right now and you MvC3 scrubs will feel high and mighty, but I doubt that this game will ever have the hype MvC2 had.

I bet in 2 years this game will die out pretty badly.

And those of you who are saying oh yeah MvC2 had a bad roster… I like MvC3 because the roster has everyone balanced, whoever is backing up this argument is an idiot. The game just launched like 3 weeks ago, so we don’t have enough time to actually evaluate a tier list. The tier lists will come, and then it’ll probably be like 6 GOD TIER characters vs the rest.

I don’t remember HOW LONG MvC2 was at EVO… but I would say probably almost 10 years that MvC2 was still the hot shit at EVO even outnumbering CvS2. (so sad… my CvS2)

Anyways, we are the fans, we wanted this MvC3 game. So we got it.

Personally I don’t see any chemistry with myself in this game. It is fun, but that is about it. It lacks giving me a drive or motivation of becoming a good player. Unlike CvS2 and Vanilla SF4.

If you paid attention to mowr’s message (and not just his join date) you’d notice he echoed the opinion of alot of the experienced fighting game players in this community.

ask me in 10 years

This game is fucking crack, just like MvC2.

Calling it now: Sentinel, Phoenix, Dormammu, and M.O.D.O.K. for God 4 of MvC3. :stuck_out_tongue:
