Whats up Everyone. Just like everyone requested. AfroDOJO will now be hosting Sunday SSF4 and HDR Tournaments.
This sunday the doors will open at 12 noon and tourney start time is 2pm.
Tourneys being run
SSF4 Singles, SSF4 2v2 Team, HDR Singles, BONUS: Cvs2 Singles
Entree Fee $5 (SSF4 singles, 2v2 [per player]) 70/20/10
Entree Fee $2 (Hdr, CVS2) Winner Take All
Hope the turn out is good. We will work with start times, a lot of people liked early so we will try it out. If this doesnt work we can switch it up or try having singles on a different day.
Also, note, this sunday tourney is not taking away from Grill Nights, we will still have singles and round robins at grill night, it will just alternate.

Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but when do these gatherings actually happen? I usually only notice the title changing to the date/time the day of or the day after.
I’d be interested in participating in local stuff if I actually had time to realize that they were happening.

gig4ls, there is often people there playing pretty much like every day but it looks like dojo nights are thursday nights and sunday nights (with saturday being TW night)
These last minute tourneys AFAIK don’t have a regular large turnout by the tournament thursdays always go down and have a good amount of people.

For your information Mr I never come out to events anymore, everyone in the community made the suggestion to have it at noon. Was not The AfroDojos decision. I thought it was a little silly cause nobody likes to wake up that early, but people insisted, so I opened them up at noon and was leanant on the start time. Funny thing is, the people that wanted the noon start up didnt even show up to the event.
Rope in players to pay bills? Please Mechanica, I know u are tryin to joke, but get that bs out of here. You think 60/100 bucks a week is paying any bills, especially when Dojo crew is not always the winner heh Anywa, sorry i felt salty to read that mechanica.
About the tourney times. Thursday is a re-occuring event that people always know about. The sunday was new to try out and was a request from the players and promoted by Tanaka. It was said through the forums and through word of mouth. Sorry if the forum updates are a little late. But my number is on the front page of this thread and the AfroDOJO has a open door policy, the only rule is to call ahead a time and ask to come over. We are usually playing everyday here at the AfroDojo

Actually E-man, Tournaments that happen at the Dojo, id like to keep the results info here in the Dojo Thread. Just like when Tekken went down, its still here in this thread. No need to search out multiple threads for each different game going down at the Dojo.

Would love to, but with my work hours being as they are, Dojo nights are hard for me to do since I have to wake up 'n all…everyone from the North end tends to love to stay late, too =/ maybe no more Dojo for me for a while, sadly; at least not until I’m off of the morning swing shift.
One thing I would like to bring up is the “start times” that we have for the Dojo. Can we please either
A. Start on time
or
B. Put down more honest start times?
Driving out to the Dojo for tournaments is always slightly a joke, since you ‘know’ you have time before anything will start. On the flip side, doing this could get you shafted out of registering if for some insane reason things start on time…
I think it’s important to establish a start time and stick to it, to prevent any late stragglers from making things harder on those volunteering to run the tournament, and to **make people show up on time. ** As it stands right now, it’s not really too fair to blame anyone who shows up ‘late’ since late is currently right on time.
Also, I remember hearing word of starting the scene-wide round robin tournament (to much more accurately represent the PNW rankings) sometime soon, but it seems to be on hold? Just curious, if things are in the works then lemme know and I’ll be patient, I promise. =]
